Quizmaster Jim returned to his messy corner of Tubby Hook after a long and well deserved honeymoon just in time to ring in a new week of trivia with a new season of the NHL! Things don't look good early in the season for the New York Rangers, but trivia at Tubby Hook is always a good time whether early or late in the game and tonight was no exception with a mix of both crafty veterans and eager newcomers.

This game saw quite a few lead changes thanks to Double or Nothings that were both nailed and missed and it looked like the top 3 was pretty much locked up until Round 7. Barely falling short on their Double or Nothing gamble in naming 10 elements on the Periodic Table with only 6 letters in their name - "silica" is a compound, whereas "silicon" is an element - Welsh Not Irish saw the appropriately named Latecomer eek past by just 1 point to grab third place. Perhaps they'll be back next week with revenge on their minds...

Despite the building across the street catching on fire and being extinguished during the third round, we played a fun game of trivia at Tubby Hook on Tuesday September 28th! The game was genuinely competitive, with Sharper than Peas dominating the first several rounds effortlessly, earning them some heckles from an opposing team. Trial By Combat! took the lead in the middle of the game, only to be inevitably beaten by #possumcore thanks to a successful double or nothing.

What better way to bid adieu to summer than with bar trivia? 8 teams must've asked themselves the same question before battling brains on Tuesday evening though, though 3 apparently waved the white flag early.

The Thundercat Ho's demonstrated early how Double or Nothing can change the makeup of the game, jumping out to an early lead after the Picture Round (seriously - who's ever heard of the French car company Citroen before?). Scores were close until feisty regulars #possumcore one upped the duo, flexing Double or Nothing not once, but twice on both Rounds 2 and 6, grabbing a lead that could not be surmounted when The Thundercat Ho's fumbled naming many of the 10 reoccuring regular characters on The Office in Round 7 ("I only watched the UK version," said the man in the orange and white striped shirt). 

A healthy mix of veterans and newcomers helped dance Tubby Hook through September as they look ahead to the Fall season and the upcoming 2-week absence of Quizmaster Jim, who finally gets to celebrate his wedding and honeymoon, both of which have been long delayed due to COVID!
