It was the last game of trivia before Thanksgiving and 6 teams made up of both old friends and new gathered together at Tubby Hook Tavern to express gratitude for many things: good beer, working heat, Double or Nothings, and tiebreakers.

Two-thirds of last week's tiebreaker finale, Sharper Than Peas and Trial by combat, got off to slow starts, seemingly making room for newcomers Isaac and Dave Michaela Franco to usurp their thrones. The race was wide open early thanks to some stumbles identifying the fictional royalty in Round 2 (Cinderella's Queen Ravenna is neither the "Ice Queen" nor "Snow Queen") and a divide in the generational knowledge identifying Demi Lovato in Round 4. But after two teams scored Double or Nothings in a pivotal Round 6, we found ourselves again facing a tiebreaker with things seemingly wrapped up at the conclusion of Round 7.

36,201 feet was the answer we were looking for in the depth in feet of the Mariana Trench and with a guess only 3799 feet off the mark, Sharper Than Peas emerged victorious once again with newcomers (and favorite team name) I was safer with the mountain lions settling for 2nd. Tria/ by combat again found themselves again walking away with 3rd place, but considering they did the same thing last week with half as many team members, perhaps they'll enter the long holiday weekend rethinking their game plan.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from our team at King Trivia! Stay safe, stay warm, stay thankful and we'll see you next week!

Baby, it's cold outside and while 2 bold folks opted for outdoor dining despite the fact that the heaters hadn't even been set up yet, 5 teams made sure that things heated up sufficiently inside with a historical trivia game at Tubby Hook Tavern!

Rounds 1 through 4 were your standard hotly contested bar trivia rounds, with close scores, near misses, and a surprisingly high amount of points awarded early in "Guess Who?" (who knew that people knew so much about Sting?). After a 3-way tie for 1st formed upon the completion of Round 5, we all figured it was only going to take another round until a frontrunner emerged.

But the 3-way tie remained in tact after Round 6 and, with all teams vying for 1st doubling down and missing on Round 7 (Marvin the Martian was a referee, not a teammate in Space Jam), Tubby Hook saw its first ever tiebreaker with everyone knowing which teams would win prizes, but the question of which prize still hanging heavy in the air.

In the end, Sharper Than Peas who were the closest in guessing how many Oscars had been awarded in totality since the first ceremony in 1929 - 3160! - bringing this unprecedented game to a thrilling conclusion.

The weather may be fluctuating a bit, but trivia at Tubby Hook Tavern remains the same!

Five teams made up of a mixture of crafty veterans and curious newcomers battled it out on a warmer than usual November evening for trivia supremacy. It's a regular occurence to see Sharper Than Peas in the winners circle, but slip ups on Rounds 4 and 7 relegated them to outside observers this week; an inherent risk when one dances regularly with the fickle Double or Nothing.

That opened the door for some others to get their first taste of fame and glory. The uncharacteristically early Latecomer finally placed after many weeks of just barely missing the cut, but it was first-timers One Horn 2022 and Mandrewlin Period that took the top prizes prompting them both to declare "we'll be back next week" at the end of the night.

We look forward to seeing them defend their crowns and look forward to you trying to topple them!
