Rocco's Tavern couldn't have been hungrier this cold and windy evening. Rain clouds threatened a downpour over Culver City, but nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of the rowdy teams in the tavern.

Paddington Kills started off light, as only one member of the group made it on time. He held down the fort, playing conservatively until the cavalry arrived. Area 51 came late to the party, but a few wins later they were in fierce competition for the lead.

The questions were far more difficult than many newcomers previously expected. Two parties--Shot Time and Chicago--found themselves unable to finish. They paid their tabs, turned in their pens, and limped home to quiz another day.

This left the playing field open for the hungriest competitors. In the final round, Teams left it all on the table to try and unseat Paddington Kills and their 5-headed Hydra of quiztacular knowledge. In the end, the PKs took the gold by a margin of 6, leading Area 51 and Slo Mo Fos.

Rocco's was as lively as always we had a mix of new and old teams.

Top three went to sad rockets and friends with 85 points in first. Second, belonged to Area 51 with 81 points, and third place and winner of the drinking round was the royal penis is clean 78.

QUIZ RECAP

King Trivia was nothing if not eventful tonight. I showed up to the venue as I always do and there was a gentleman standing just outside the patio hunched over yelling in a stream of consciousness into the restaurant. Now if you know the setup of Rocco's it's an open-air patio that seamlessly transitions to the inside of the restaurant. There is a door that can be pulled down to separate the inside from the out, but it's not down at the time that I arrive.

I go through the regular motions of setting up the speaker system, check in with the management and bar staff, and start the game in spite of this very distracting figure posted up outside of the venue.

We make it through a few rounds all the while this wayward traveler is outside doing what can only be considered overly ambitious slam poetry to a patio with nobody on it, and a group of bar patrons growing increasingly frustrated. I have to acknowledge this fellow and I do after he yells out what he thought was an answer to one of the Round 3 questions. I said, nevermind him, that's my roommate, he's just happy to see me at a gig. We share some space under an overpass near the 405.

At this moment the staff takes it upon themselves to shut the door separating the inside from the out. Brilliant idea. We take yelling answers out seriously here at King Trivia. Furthermore, they were growing tired as well considering he had been out there for two hours before I showed up. Gotta admire his stamina and shout out to the state of mental health institutions in this country.

Once the door was closed it was easier to focus on the game at hand, and that's exactly what we did. We had 7 teams start, and 7 teams finish. 3 teams benefited from Rocco's gift certificate.

Our first place prize went to Minimally Invested with 61 points. Seems like they were kinda invested. In a tie for 2nd and 3rd, we have Trivia Kings and Slo Mo Fos clashing evenly at 53 points. Since the prizes for 2nd and 3rd are both $20 coupons the two teams opted to collect their prize instead of battling in a sudden death match.

In addition, we had a very cute bipedal dog who occasionally chimed in and spent the entire time on his hind legs, no exaggeration.
