Four teams. Three gift cards. One walk of shame...the stakes were high going into tonight's game of trivia and all four of our teams tonight had some great moments!

Baby Cheeses: A strong game until a bungled Double or Nothing in Round 6 where George was incorrectly identified as Princess Aurora's father (pst...his name was Stefan). But after that, they came up with some of the best Britney Spears songs, because who could forget hits like "I Drink Alcohol" and "Lip Gloss"? Definitely Billboard Top 100-worthy.

People in Sleeping Bags: I knew this returning team was going to have a fun night when they labeled the C3PO pencil topper as "Robot Charlie Brown". But they avoided the trap that the prior team fell into and gained enough points in Round 6 to secure a third place finish.

Mike Tyson's Speech School: Our house champions had a bit of a rough night after losing out on a Double or Nothing in our "Switched" theme round and waiting a couple clues to figure out the location of Round 4 was Disney World. And even though they knew who Namor the Sub-Mariner was (everyone's favorite Marvel character!) and that they pieced together the theme of Round 5 after they figured out Frasier's theme song...it wasn't quite enough to pull out the win tonight. They also requested that I perform song karaoke by singing the answers to Round 7...and I obliged where I could to what I can only describe as thunderous applause.

Only in ToonTown: To be fair, these Disneyland Cast Members had a slightly unfair advantage with two entire rounds being dedicated to Disney-themed trivia...methinks we're pretty excited about our Disneyland-themed night coming up at King Trivia. They doubled down on two separate rounds, including the aforementioned Disney Dads. They also taught me that "Werk Bitch" is an actual Britney Spears song (I thought they just made it up!) featuring Queen Ru herself. Our first timers pulled out the win and got the golden ticket gift card...after assuring me they would absolutely be back for the Disneyland night in a few weeks.

Great job to my four teams! I will see you all next week!

The night started off strong, particularly for The Implication and Mike Tyson's Speech School who scored a double down in the picture round. People seem to know their art history, quickly figuring out Frida Kahlo was the Guess Who, but musical theater proved to be a stumper. Although, surprising most teams were the Robert DeNiro movies that did NOT make the cut for being the highest grossing (sorry Taxi Driver, Godfather, Goodfellas...). Great job to all the teams for nailing some obscure questions in each round!

First, I'd like to start off this recap by giving some major props to People in Sleeping Bags for giving it their all! I applauded them for their efforts because they played a very respectable game against three teams who play every week, so nicely done, you insulated beings.

Highlights from the night include:

  • Both The Implication and People in Sleeping Bags insisting that the Portal logo was also the Chase Bank logo. Ah yes, how could I forget the most popular video game of all: "Where'd My Money Go?"
  • Baby Cheeses went a different route that round by guessing Call of Duty a grand total of three times...none of which were right!
  • Everyone eventually got Lin Manuel Miranda right in Round 5, although everyone also agreed it would have been nice to get a shoutout to Mary Poppins Returns in there somewhere.
  • We all learned that telling people you have a cold is much more frightening if you tell them you were "diagnosed with rhinopharyngitis"...which I can now spell correctly without looking due to the number of times I spelled it out last night.
  • You get double points! You get double points! Everyone went for a Double or Nothing in Round 6 so you all get double points!!!
  • JFK. Is. Not. The. Youngest. President. Ever. That fact has been a lie my whole life and I need to go reevaluate everything I know.

Congrats to our Top 3 teams: Mike Tyson's Speech School, The Implication, and Baby Cheeses! And another Honorable Mention to People in Sleeping Bags...who were the only people to go home empty handed last night. Whomp whomp...

See you all in a couple weeks!
