The essence of a great trivia night falls to the teams that are involved and we had a great time amongst the four teams that played trivia at Slater's tonight (plus one more excited participant across the bar who would cheer anytime he got an answer right).

There were some funny visualizations tonight due to some incorrect answers, like the Baby Cheeses saying that Terry Crews had taken over as host of America's Next Top Model from Tyra Banks...let's face it, Terry Crews definitely knows how to smize.

There were also a few new suggestions for Notre Dame's new slogan such as "Win One for the Gipper!" from the Baby Cheeses and "God Chooses Champions" from Consolation Prize.

After being thrown off by Marge Simpson having appeared on the cover of Playboy a few years back, the final curveball came in the final round with the World Cup winners, but after much grumbling and groaning (despite my rule to the contrary...and my offer of an alternate question: "What are the Quizmaster's 10 best qualities?"...which no one took), all of the teams did much better than expected!

As the vuvuzelas wound down (anyone remember those?), Mike Tyson's Speech Schooltook home first prize again! Consolation Prize gets major props for winning second, as they were a brand new team tonight! Hopefully they get on a roll and continue to win Tuesday night dinners in the coming weeks. Baby Cheeses rounded out the Top 3, leaving Barley Knowledgeable to take the great Walk of Shame (TM) to get their revenge next week...maybe...

Hope you all have a great week and we'll see you next time!

Another successful king trivia night at Slater's 50/50 in HB!

We had one of our favorite returning teams join us, ultimately taking the cake against the newcomers.

With just two teams the battle for victory was neck and neck! Mike Tyson's speech school was in the lead from round one! The teams had the same amount of correct answers, but being registered with king trivia set them over the edge.

Round two had an interesting response but not a challenge for these two teams!

Round three up next with a head scratcher, but both teams nailing the answer. Who remembers renting video games from Blockbuster!?

We laughed and giggled at my first time, definitely learning as I go! As you can see, I managed to grab a selfie with one of the players! I'm sure everyone was tired from a long Labor Day weekend. We'll be sure to snap more pics next time! Thank you everyone for having me! It was a pleasure.

Mike Tyson's speech school won first place with a whopping 60 points! Team Venue not far behind with 48. We will see you all next week!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 15676 Mike Tyson’s speech school 60 1 1.000
2 Venue 48 0 0.000

Another week, another team returning! Welcome back, Uffda! Glad you could join us again after some time away!

And what a night to come back! We had a great time making up names for the cow characters none of us could identify...particularly the Chicago Bulls' mascot, Benny, who we named "Moo Moo", "Utter", and "Bessie". Round 5 saw everyone get the theme of writing utensils, even if not all of the answers were correct, and Round 6 saw higher point totals than everyone thought they would get with none of the teams receiving less than seven points. Guess between those two rounds, our logic and reasoning skills really came to the forefront.

Another piece of trivia I imparted to the teams in Round 7: the reason there are so many Subways in the world is that they have a corporate sponsorship with the US military, meaning there is essentially a Subway on every military base around the world. I would know: I'm a recovering Navy brat and have eaten at a handful of those sandwich shops! You can eat fresh all over the globe!

But after the cows went home, after we commiserated over the current state of Spider-Man in the MCU, and after all the sandwiches were eaten, The Implication came out on top for the night with newcomers to Slater's, the Bombay Ducks, and the Baby Cheeses rounding out the Top 3. Congratulations!

Have a great week, everybody! See you next time!
