A quiet Tuesday night turned into a good back and forth between the top teams, with no outcome being certain throughout the final rounds!
Thanks to one of their teammates dropping their keys down an elevator shaft, Team Jesus stumbled on our game during their Bible study night and gave newcomers Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers a run for their money! They learned the hard way that Double or Nothings can be your friend, however, as two rounds would've benefitted them and catapulted them into first place.
Elsewhere in the game, teams were very successful at identifying talk show hosts that weren't Oprah and NHL arenas that weren't in the country. Uffda won't soon forget the name "Duke Ellington" since that cost them a Double or Nothing and put them out of contention for the night.
But it all came down to Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock as many teams learned the hard way that Speed 2 has a 4% on Rotten Tomatoes for a reason and would not be one of Ms. Bullock's highest grossing films. Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers edged out Team Jesus for the win, with Mike Tyson's Speech School rounding out our prize winning top 3 for the evening.
Shout out to 2DC, who agreed to play after some gentle encouragement by a very convincing Quizmaster...and ended up doing much better than they thought they would!
Thanks for playing tonight, everyone! See you next week!

If may not have been Friends night, but it was a night of friends including an unexpected reunion for me and a friend on the Voodoo Teddy Bears!
It ended up being the night of the great Team Hemorrhage since we started with 11 teams, a new record, until the night whittled it down to six teams that made it through the entire night. But as I reminded them, that just means better odds for everyone that stayed: a good incentive!
We learned many things tonight, chief among them to wait for later clues in the Guess Who? round, particularly since many teams jumped the gun and guessed Sarah Michelle Gellar due to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer red herring...the movie came first, people, then the TV show!
The Voodoo Teddy Bears learned that they should've Doubled on a few rounds since they missed out on a lot more points!
And we all learned that the Freedom of Petition is part of our unalienable rights since most teams got the first four First Amendment rights, but no one knew this final one.
Once the smoke cleared, we were left with our Top 3 for the night: OBJ to Cleveland took home the top prize after edging out the competition with their Double or Nothing after identifying religious origins; Team Cool Kids who chose not to risk it with religion and ended up losing out; and Voodoo Teddy Bears, who were surprised after thinking that tonight was Friends night...but they ended up having a great time anyway!
Special shout outs to:
- If You Can Hear My Voice, Clap Once since every time I read out their name, more and more people participated until everyone was in on it at the end...even people who weren't playing!
- Robko because, despite not sticking around until the end, we essentially had a celebrity player with this team! In a true Slumdog Millionaire moment, one of their team members was a judge who scored the gymnastics routine for Ms. Katelyn Ohashi at UCLA, which made that question a cinch for her.
Thanks for playing, everyone! See you all next week!

No one told me life was gonna be this way, AND I'M SO GLAD!!! Our FRIENDS event at Slater's 50/50 in Huntington Beach was hoppin'! Many thanks to all the teams that came out. Our winners, Central Perky Nipples graced the top with a 1-point difference from the second place team, Ahh...Salmon Skin Roll. Both teams definitely deserved a prize just based off those team names alone 😉 Thank you to all for joining me in the YMCA and also the Spice Girl's hit, "Wannabe." Props also to the team who won the spirit prize. One costume in particular was modeled after the FRIENDS episode, "The One With All Trivia." It was wonderfully ironic and that deserved the huge round of applause it got! Thank you all again for making my night, and I hope I was able to make yours 🙂
Sincerely,
Quizmaster Chandler (Viv)
