There was nothing sus about the win of beaus battalion tonight, they had rizz and IYKYK, they won by a full 15 points thanks to some well-used double-or-nothings!

null and Big Ben's put up a good fight over the evening, though, and weren't too shabby in 2nd and 3rd.

In tonight's game, we learned that the Simon from Simon & Schuster isn't the same as Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel.  Nor was there a publisher with the last name "Clearinghouse" (first initial "P." obviously).

Taylor Swift did not get to number one with any version of "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" We also discovered that a full quarter of the room could name a lot of Adele, Beyonce, and Brittney Spears.  One even ventured a Siouxie and the Banshees song rather than a Tayor Swift one.

We also all agreed that Babe Ruth Bater Ginsberg is a great team name, but not the answer we were looking for about retired Yankee Derek Jeter.  😉

Wrong Answer of the Game:

When asked what University saw the launch of Facebook in 2001, one intrepid team answered "SUNY Syracuse."  Sure, that seems totally legit.  We all know the best tech comes from upstate NY.

Remember to follow us on Insta and FB for the "Answer of the Day" each week, and look forward to Season XX of the league starting on 15 February.

See you next week, quizzerinos.  In the mean time, rock on,stay nebby, and keep on quizzin.

It was a dark and stormy night...

So begins one of the worst novels ever written and one of the best quiz nights.  16 teams of Trivianistas joined me this evening in the rainy Pittsburgh evening (did you know we have more average rainfall than Seattle?!) and they were each ready to hang the competition out to dry.

This week, we learned that Kenan and Kel are not the same as Key and Peele (doh!); Betwitched is not I Dream of Jeanie (though in one episode, Nelson and Healey break into a house and it *is* the set of the Betwitched home); and that the Churchill Downs is most definitely not the site of a famous horse race--in Ohio.

In the end, our top 4 teams went back and forth for much of the night, but January Blah came out on top, smoking Thunder Sharks by a good 4 points and Blue Team by 8.

Wrong answer of the game:

One team couldn't come up with "girl bands" for the connection between the answers in R5, but they did give us a nice call-back to last week's connection:  cryptocurrency.  Way to remember!!!

I tried some of Aslin's food this week (cheese curds and a bite of a smashburger) and can confirm, the food is delicious!

See you next week friends.  Same bat time, same bat bar!

Second night of trivia down at Aslin, and with nearly 2x as many teams as last week, the competition was fierce!

We answered questions about the countries with the largest GDP, connected the answers to come up with a round about types of cryptocurrency, and identified some milk-swilling celebrities (Got Milk?  Aaron Burr wishes he had).

As you can see from the scores, competition was fierce for the top few slots, Spec Squad, Team Pedro, and Nudie Giulimommy were all running neck-and-neck for first this evening, but Spec Squad caught the win.  Just by one point each!

People were also a little conservative tonight, with very few choosing to "double or nothing," but we'll get more comfortable with that as the weeks go on.

Remember that "league" tracking will start in mid-February and go until June.  You can see how your team stacks up with those around the country.  Make sure to register with your regular team name when we get there.

Wrong answer of the game this evening:

This has two honors, and for the same question:

When asked what flavor was prominent in a Viagra-laced ice cream, we got two charmers:

Blue Balls

and

Salty

Well played, teams.

Remember my motto:  If you can't be right, be funny.

See you next week, same bat bar, same bat time.
