I'd love to say that it was a beautiful day in our neighbourhood, but I'd be a right fibber if I did. While the weather did clear up for our eclipse viewing this week, it has decided to double down on our motto as "Rainier than Seattle" to make up for the kindness. However, 15 bright and shining teams still managed to paddle down to Aslin for the fun, and fun we did have.
It was a right squeaker there for a bit, with our top 5 teams all in the top 3 spots at some point during the game, but Birthday Babes got their wish and took first tonight, barely beating out Super Mega and Missing Julianna for the privilege. I'm guessing that when Julianna comes back, everyone has a force to be reckoned with!
What did we learn? The neat part this week was that a team, when naming the countries that have tigers in them, gave a shot out to Laos, which was not only correct, but deserved a little party. My partner is usually hanging out losing trivia while writing poetry, but he's out of town this week organizing an exhibit on Laos where he's from. He's super proud of you all.
We had many wrong answers this evening, but only one receives the coveted Wrong Answer of the Game! This time it's a two-fer, with the same team answering "That one dude in Shrek" for one answer and then missing that Shrek was our theme in the connection round! Nice work, my little donkeys. 😉
Have a spectacular week and stay dry out there. We're under another flood warning for the weekend.

Today was another beautiful tuesday in the 'Burgh, and since it was a tuesday you know what that means; Music bingo here at Aslin Beer! Tonight's playlists were brought to you by the 2010s and Canadian Artists. Lots of fun was had guessing many a Justin Bieber song as well as Alanis Morissette. Some trivia regulars were back and all around it was a great night,until next week!

Holy flood warning Batman! I didn't kayak to quiz tonight, but I could have almost. That sodden photo you see is the exit from one of our interstates to the 10th St. Bridge on the right (goes to my house) and downtown to the left. While the Canada Geese were set to go, it took me almost two hours to get to you!
But I wasn't disappointed. The gang was all there and we had 24 teams tonight, with most playing with their entire...frat houses? Knitting clubs? Underwater basket weaving after party?
When we counted the victory points, M+S Connection, a new team of just 2 smoked you all with their 80-point win. But it wasn't always their game. Regulars Quizzantine Empire were leading for a bit, but ended up 3rd, missing out on the tiebreaker won by 2nd place Team 2.
In addition to the most IMPORTANT stats of the night, the Pirates beat Washington 7-4 and the Pens smoked them 4-1. Go black and gold!
Back to the game, we reiterated the "if you can't be right, be funny" motto and two teams leaned right into it.
One team spent our connections round answering "the hot one" and figured the connection was "they're all hot." Well played.
However, the Wrong Answer of the Game goes to the team who got creative. In answer to the "longest range in South America," they simply wrote: "gun."
