QUIZ RECAP

It's a beautiful day in the Neighborhood.

Here in my world, I spent the morning with animals.  Our friend's dog Amber, who we have been minding for a few weeks while her Mama's in surgery/recovery, happily went home. 

And then, a mere few hours later, our foster cat Ada--who has been with us TWICE--went to the nicest furrever home.  As of a few hours ago, she was already happily exploring her new home and looking for snuggles.

On those sad but high notes, I was honored to run a very competitive trivia game this evening!  It's going to need a little explanation.

Shadynasty took the night with a giant lead!  84 Big Damn Hero Points! [You're welcome, Firefly fans]

But here's where we move into the Twilight Zone (Twilao Zone?).  My partner who plays each week as Lao Poets (he's from Laos, you see) and has followed me from venue to venue for *years* has never placed above the low-middle of the pack.  This was his week, as it seems. 

HOWEVER!!!  He can't win prizes.  [Trombone]  He gets to take home a QuizMaster and a sense of superiority, but to avoid any hint of impropriety, he is forever disqualified from prize-land.

That meant that new friends IBACOS and PEEPERS REVENGE had to duke it out with a tiebreaker to see who came first and third.

With a fun "yell it out" metric, PEEPERS got the breaker faster than their rivals to take 2nd.  Congratulations to all.

That brings us to what we learned this week:

Elvis' granddaughter isn't particularly concerned about the foreclosing of any of the Frick buildings here in town.  Instead, she's trying to save Graceland.

Steve Harvey has never hosted The Price is Right.  Can you even imagine?  Do spay and neuter your pets, but not in Harvey's voice.  That answer was Drew Carey, who is still not really up to filling Bob Barker's golf shoes.

No one trying for an officer position in the US Marine Academy, Military Academy, or Air Force Academy is called "comrade."  Not...in public.  We were after "cadet."

Finally, when one team answered "Ice Cube" for the 2nd longest-serving actor in Law and Order: SVU, I decided in my head that their team had engaged in a raucous battle over which of our favorite "Ice"s was correct.  By "in my head," I absolutely mean that I said that out loud on mic to moderate amusement.  😉 Sadly for this team, it is Ice T as Tutuola!

BINGO RECAP

Tonight's music bingo featured hits from california artists as well as the 2000s! We had a large return of many of our regulars who brought along many friends. Lots of returning and new folks tonight and an all around fun evening!
