The weather is turning warm, which means the trivia is heating up! Rising mercury couldn’t keep the teams away from Idle Hour this Tuesday for another outstanding round of King Trivia. 19 groups of quizzical questers entered the barrel-shaped battlefield for an epic throw-down. 

After Round One, we saw our usual massive tie, with seven teams sharing the top spot. Not to worry, as these fierce competitors would stand for sharing the prize. Blood was in the air as we charged forward into the remaining half of the show. 

Our early leaders were Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, Algorithm and Blues, and Snark Squad. Strategic doubles gave them a healthy margin entering the third and fourth rounds, but newbie teams Jo-Jo’s and Banshees of Burbank were hot on their heels. 

Suddenly, Algorithm and Blues took a commanding lead, using a monstrously risky double to leapfrog the competition. But Risky Quizness was close behind, and three teams held a tie for third going into Round 5. 

After finding the connection, our leaders were separated by only ten points. Quiz Kid Donnie Smith launched into a fight for second, while Murder Hornets and Kingbeez fought for third! 

As we entered the final round, emotions were high and drink orders were overflowing. It was going to be a photo finish…and possibly a tie to break!

Yet at the end, we saw a clean finish with Algorithm and Blues in front, Quiz Kid Donnie Smith in second, and Murder Hornets in third.

A glorious evening in May out here in NoHo, and what could be finer than some trivia that’s divine-er? That’s right, we brought King Trivia to the masses for another outstanding show! National Escargot Day brought out all the champions, but only one could be crowned our winner of the night? Who would it be?

Twenty teams started the show with big dreams and bigger glasses of ice cold refreshment. When Round One came to a close, we only had two teams holding the lead: Drunkin’ Donuts and Open the Ice Cream Dog (Whoof). Surprisingly, neither team had doubled down, meaning the scoreboard was as tight as it’s ever been leaving the opening session. Round Two put a few more points on the board, as teams were more comfortable risking it all for the big win. Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, our returning champions, lingered only a point behind the top spot, eager to defend their title. 

Rounds Three saw a new dynasty rise to the top as Snark Squad and Old Fashioned Palomas took the top spots, only to see Snark Squad fall to Team Zuzu in Round Four! This was our most volatile game of King Trivia that Idle Hour had ever seen!

In our drinking round, we challenged the teams to determine the amount of snails consumed in France in a single year. NoHo Hank took the free shots with a close (but still not quite on the dot) guess, earning them the ire of the thirst patrons. 

Round 5 saw Palomas and Zuzu secure their lead, but Quiz Kid Donnie Smith was racing behind in third. With all top ten teams only points away from each other, this was going to be an insanely close finish!

Round Six saw Zuzu leapfrog the competition, but we ended Round Seven with a MASSIVE tie for second and third place. After a scrum to figure out the real winners, we finally settled our leaderboard. 

Team Zuzu took the top spot, followed by Old Fashioned Palomas and Adam’s the Best (who clearly won best name of the night)!
