As we near the end of March, only one championship bracket is on anyone’s mind: KING TRIVIA at Idle Hour! 

24 teams arrived in our barrel-shaped bar to throw down with the greatest trivia show in town. It was standing room only as this QM and DJ Pandora took the stage to start the game. 

As usual, we started with a tie that had nearly half the assembled teams fighting for the top spot. Cliques were made, alliances and betrayals abound, and only a rare few were ready to face the tribe at the elimination circle. Er…I mean one team miraculously took first place only two rounds in. My new dad is Pete might have secured an early lead…but could they hold it?

As it turns out…NO! Real Housewives of Noho snagged the lead the very next round. It became a back and forth that no one could break, and it only drove the teams beneath crazier. 

Since we all needed a quick break before launching into the back half, we took time to honor National AG Day for our Drinking Round. The QM tricked out a combine harvester on John Deere’s website and challenged the teams to price it out. With the closest guess, Big Ronnie and the Chandliers took the free shots, much to the chagrin of the assembled teams. 

Coming into the final stretch, we saw the crown trading hands once again. It was a real scrum between our top 10 teams. 

As we jumped past Round 5, Ace Tomato Company took a sudden and strong lead away from our tied competitors. It was truly anyone’s game. When Round 6 ended, the scores were nearly locked together. What would happen next?

As it turns out, A NEW LEADING TIE! Real Housewives and My new dad took the top spot away from Ace Tomato, leading to a final showdown in Round 7. This was as tense as we’ve ever seen things in Idle Hour. 

When the dust settled, we had a clear winner in the game: Real Housewives of Noho, My new dad is Pete, and Ace Tomato Company.

QUIZ RECAP

It was days before St. Paddy’s day, and all through the pub, not a question was asked, except by this Bub. That’s right…it was TRIVIA TIME! 22 teams joined us for an exception evening of guessing and gabbing, with an absolutely packed house starting the big holiday party early. 

Our first few rounds were marked by an intense, 6-way tie at the top of the board, however we found our leader by Round Three: There’s Something About Putin!

As the questions kept flying by, Putin and Real Housewives of Noho became our neck-and-neck leaders, fighting for every point they could. Though not on a breakaway, they managed to hold the top two spots all the way to Round Six!

During our Drinking Round, we challenged our teams to name the number of words in Shakespeare’s Julius Caeser. With the closest guess There’s Something About Putin took the shots as well! They were on a roll…but could they hold their lead?

As always, it came down to the final round to see who would win all the marbles (or, in this case, gift cards). The teams through out everything they had, left it all on the court, and another three or four metaphors for playing a mean game of trivia. But, alas, there can only be three winners. 

Our top spots went to There’s Something About Putin, Real Housewives of Noho, and a surprise third from Kingbeez!

QUIZ RECAP

There is nowhere better to ring in International Women’s Day than Idle Hour on a Tuesday Night. We had seven rounds of the best question-based bar game you could hope for: King Trivia! With 26 teams, endless appetizers, and perhaps too many tequila shots, we threw a party for the record books. 

The first few rounds were easy fair, with a massive tie clogging the top spot. As we pushed past the picture and theme rounds, a select group of challengers separated from the pack. Real Housewives of NoHo and Quiz on Your Face pushed out some mean doubles, and suddenly seemed to be stealing the show. However, this was as hungry a group as we’d ever seen, and nothing is certain until after the drinking round!

We challenged our teams with some International Women’s Day trivia, leading to Real Housewives earning free shots (with a close second to Hot Uncle Leo). Now all that was left was a battle royale toward the end of the show. 

Ace Tomato Company took advantage of a simpler connection round and catapulted into first place. But after Round six, Kingbeez stole the spotlight with a powerful double! It was truly anyone’s game as we went into the final round. It all came down to who had the most ice cream in their freezer. 

When the final scores arrived, we crowned our top three: In a HUGE upset, There’s Something About Putin took 1st! Kingbeez had second, and Dawgy Style hit third.
