QUIZ RECAP

One hundred degree weather couldn’t keep our teams away as dozens of folks flooded the barrel-shaped haven of Idle Hour for the best show in town: King Trivia! 30 teams arrived for a fierce competition, and they were not disappointed. 

We started off with a first for the Idle Hour crowd. In Round One, NOBODY risked a double! We have 5 teams knock it out with perfect scores, but couldn’t drum up the courage to risk it for the biscuit. 

In Round Two, perhaps due to the public shaming this QM delivered, several teams took the plunge and suddenly we had a real game on our hands. Quiz Kid Donnie Smith and Algorithm and Blues took the top spots, but with most of the board right behind them. 

Round Three proved another challenge, but Algorithm and Blues used the confusion to leap ahead, taking the top spot. Shortly after, Half the Herd crept into second with Martha Meatballs in third. 

Our Drinking Round asked the teams to come up with trivia for one of our greatest folk heros: Paul Bunyan! After a quick tie breaker, F45ers earned a free round!

Our leaderboard stayed true all the way through Round 5! But then…UPSET!

Half the Herd jumped into the top spot, followed by Diana Spencer’s Gifts, and a tied Algorithm and Blues and Quiz Lightyear. What could happen next? ANOTHER UPSET!

After the final round, Spider-Friendz took third, Little Miss Nadine (birthday girl) took second, and Half the Herd leapfrogged into first.

QUIZ RECAP

A scorching week set the stage for a showdown of operatic proportions. 27 teams from all across Los Angeles—and indeed the world—gathered in our barrel-shaped paradise for cool drinks, hot food, and the best trivia in town. That’s right: It’s time for King Trivia at Idle Hour!

With the first day of summer fresh in everyone’s eyes, we began the game. Round One revealed a 3-way tie for first, but that quickly dwindled to a 2-way after the second round. Camp Mohawk and Downtown Sasquatch set themselves up for a battle, but the other teams were close behind and just as hungry for victory.

After four rounds, however, our two leaders maintained their top spot, with Tequila Mockingbirds nipping at their heels. It was time for a quick break to cool the temperature and quench some thirst. 

As it was National Selfie Day, we asked our teams to show us their best selfies. Tequila Tots (not affiliated with the Mockingbirds) showed off an impressive array of photos to clinch the win and the free shots!

Round Five put a slew of strange questions in front of our champions with only one connection. After some struggles and feverish debate, Tequila Mockingbirds knocked out the leaders and took the sole spot at the top. They managed to hold on for dear life through the next few rounds, but it would all come down to the final questions.

After an exciting and nerve wracking final round, we had our winners. Tequila Mockingbird took the top spot, Camp Mohawk earned second, and Talk to me Goose snatched third.

QUIZ RECAP

It was a hot one tonight, quiz fans. This QM was getting a workout as, for the first few minutes of the show we were operating…without an app! Not to worry, as this QM has been running trivia shows since before the Internet was even invented. Granted, it meant a bit of running back and forth, but our valiant teams persevered. 

22 teams joined us for an incredible evening of question and answers. Right out the gate, we had a monster tie with our veteran teams and newbies locking down a quick and early double However, Round 2 went to Kingbeez with a great effort, giving them a sparse lead. Only moments later, Quiz Kid Donnie Smith took the top spot with a clutch double down. This was a meat grinder of mental twists and turns. Who would win?

In our Drinking Round, we honored National Bourbon Day with a question about the most expensive bottle of bourbon around (and discounted shots for the whole bar). Quizknows took the win and the free shots!

Following a tense Round 5, the scores were growing ever tighter. Quiz Kid and Kingbeez locked up the top spots, but our fearless fighters were only points away all down from 3rd through 13th! Zohandmeabeer and You Better Knife weren’t leaving without a fight. Surprisingly, the trash talk was kept to minimum, despite this QM instigating at every turn. 

Round 6 saw a major shakeup as You Better Knife clawed their way into first plane, while Yellow Wine Club and Tequila Mockinbird jumped into the 2nd and 3rd place spots! It would all come down to the final round.

After a nail biting tie breaker, we found our winners. Kingbeez earned third place, Yellow Wine Club took 2nd, and Quiz Kid Donnie Smith took third!
