Tuesday night at Rasselbock. 9PM. Some say tonight was fated to happen, written about in ancient scrolls buried deep under the ground. Others say this was a whirlwind of chaos, unpredictable as a Texas weather pattern.
For this lone Quizmaster, Tuesday night was a battle of wits and will. Four teams entered, but the battlefield quickly whittled down to the top two contenders.
The Sorority of Satan, comprised of a few members of Hamburglars, came to the bar with one goal in mind: Domination. Their opponents, the dynamic duo of LFG, didn't know what to expect.
Hell. No one did.
Round after round, these valiant women dropped down their trivia knowledge like thunderbolts, shaking the very foundations of the restaurant. 90s Babies bowed out quickly, unnerved by the near omniscient skills of the top teams. PBHAD lost his will in the face of these matriarchs, leaving only two teams to compete for the grand prize.
A small reprieve came with the Appetizer Round, as even some patrons who hadn't come for trivia decided to try and sneak in to steal the delicious appetizers. LFG quickly dashed those dreams, but--in an unrivaled show of sportsmanship--shared their winnings with the bar.
In the end, it came down to Round 7--as all these matches tend to do. LFG trailed by 4, but they had confidence. They had moxie. They had maybe a few too many beers.
But it wasn't enough.
The Sorority Sisters might not have known much about The Terminator, but they were wizards at guessing the UN countries. They extended their lead and cemented their victory.
At the end of the night, the two teams shook hands and joined together for a photograph. Though they arrived as rivals, they left as sisters, and perhaps a new supergroup was born. Only time will tell.

Those tricky Jackalopes were at play on Tuesday night as sound issues got our trivia night started. But luckily, all was figured out and the game went on as planned! It ended up being a great, close game between five teams. Two teams were tied going into the final round and the question of who would take the crown was answered in round seven. A TEAM HAS NO NAME overtook LARGE MARGE handedly, but another tie occurred for third! WIE SIND HIER FUR DAS BIER broke the tie over KOBIYASHI MARU for the final spot on the podium. I have to mention THE CURLY SWURLYS too since they're all that remains and I believe in equal time to all teams!
A quiet night turned into a real barn-burner at Rasselbock. Four teams entered, one had to leave early because they had a "real early day at work," and the remaining three through down in a trivia contest that will be sung about for years to come.
Returning champions I'm Not Sure How to Pronounce This Name came with one thing in mind: absolute domination. They took an early lead, but Hamburglars refused to be left behind. For round after round, the difference between first and second was a single point.
During the mid-game Appetizer round, newcomers Tittsberg Feelers earned a plate of delicious potato pancakes by knowing that bananas share 50% of their DNA with humans (a gross but true fact).
Coming into round seven, INSHTPTN extended their lead by seven, but then came the Kardashian Quiz Conundrum. Could our returning champs keep their lead and cement a victory? Would the Hamburglars double down and leap over the competition? Would We're Just Here for the Beer recover from a devastating slip in round 3?
In the end, our returning champs I'm Not Sure managed to keep their lead by 4 points, taking the crown and the $30 gift card. Hamburglars earned second place, with We're Just Here for the Beer in third.
