About Scuttlebutt Taproom & Brewery

 

Founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996, the idea started as a homebrewing kit for Father’s Day 1990. As thoughtful as the gift was, it was also a source of strife – Scuttle wanted to use the kitchen for preparing meals for the family while Phil was crowding her out in favor of homemade beer. To maintain marital bliss we decided to move out of the kitchen and into a larger operation. A business plan was established in 1995 and we grew our operation from 5 gallon buckets to a 20 barrel system.

 

We brewed our first beer on July 4, 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. We brewed three styles of beer and finished out that first year with 170 barrels sold. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

 

After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Record night at Scuttlebutt. Almost standing room only. Scuttlebutt was alive tonght.

This was The Lovin' Pintful's night tonight. Dominating almost every round with perfect scores and doubling down.

Second place goes to a new team Reunited and if Feels So Good. Welcome to Scuttlebutt. They won with a tie breaker guessing 240,000 miles form the earth to the moon which was within a couple thousan miles.

Poptars are Breakfast Ravioli took home third. Nice to see some of their team back after the pandemic. We won't talk about what their guess was for the distance between the moon and earth.

I loved seeing everybody tonight. Full houses make it fun and competitive. See everybody next Tuesday night. Bring a friend or two.

Where should you be on a Tuesday night? Playing King Trivia at Scuttlebutt. Drinking great beer, eating tacos and hanging with some awesome people.

This week it was a fairly new team The Smarty Pints who took home the gold. They started out with a double in the first round and hung on for dear life at the end.

Another newer team showed great poise and came in second. Congratulations, Awesome Possums!!!

Tuesday nights are a fun night here at Scuttlebutt. If you haven't come out to play, you definitely should. I hope to see everybody and an extra friend next week.

It is hot outside but drinking Scuttlebutt beer will cool you down. Eve too hot for the taco truck. Four teams dared the heat and came out to play some King Trivia.

With Brew World Order not in the house who would take home the crown?

The answer:  Black Velvet's Midnight Riders. A new team Dark Rainbow took home the silver.
