About Scuttlebutt Taproom & Brewery

 

Founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996, the idea started as a homebrewing kit for Father’s Day 1990. As thoughtful as the gift was, it was also a source of strife – Scuttle wanted to use the kitchen for preparing meals for the family while Phil was crowding her out in favor of homemade beer. To maintain marital bliss we decided to move out of the kitchen and into a larger operation. A business plan was established in 1995 and we grew our operation from 5 gallon buckets to a 20 barrel system.

 

We brewed our first beer on July 4, 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. We brewed three styles of beer and finished out that first year with 170 barrels sold. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

 

After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Another fantastic night of trivia at Scuttlebutt. If you are not here you are missing out. We had 5 teams enter with 4 of them gunning for Suckit Trebek. Will they be successful?

The first two rounds Bar Tops flexed their muscle successfully doubling on both rounds. HLP doubled up in the second round to take a stronghold on second place.

Round 3 Suckit Trebek showed some backbone and doubled to jump into second place. PDRoE tried to double but missed.

Round 4 didn't change much except HLP fell back a little bit further in the standings.

Suckit Trebek doubled each of the next two rounds to pull away from the pack. Bar Tops did enough to hang on.

It was great seeing everybody each Tuesday. Hopefully next week we will see even a few more teams. Have a great week everybody.

Tuesday nights at Scuttlebutt is a blast. There is a great group of people drinking beer and answering trivial questions throughout the night. Who will win tonight.

The first round had three teams doubling up: Corholio, My Couch Pulls Out, and Suckit Trebek.

Round 4 was a doozy tonight. Nobody was too familiar with Regina King. Nobody got it until the 2 point question. One was happy to take their zero instead of the -1.

Going into the final round My Couch and Suckit Trebek were tied with the final round about the periodic table. Suckit Trebek gave the answer sheet to the high school kid and said take us to the promise land and he delivered scoring 9 points.

Thank you to everybody who comes out on Tuesday nights. If your looking for some fun, grab a friend (even the furry friends are welcome, we always have at least 1 dog and the occasional cat join us). Bring whatever you like to eat since it is a Taproom and come challenge your mind.

The weather is getting nicer outside, the garage door to the brewery is open and trivia is flowing at the Taproom. Who is going to come out on top this week with 4 teams entering.

The Jackelopes jumped out to an early lead with a perfect round but did not double for some reason.

Round 2 had The Bar Tops jumping into first with a strong picture round and The Jackelopes falling into last place with a swing and a miss about the School movies.

The standings wouldn't change much through out the game, but coming into the final round Cornholio and The Jackelopes were tied for second. The final round was kind of difficult for everybody this night but in the end The Bar Tops came out on top and The Jackelopes squeezed there way into second.

Everybody come on out on Tuesday nights. Bring your dogs, your dinner and your trivia hat. Rumor has it Suck it Trebek and PDRoE will be back next week to challenge everybody.
