With the holidays fast approaching, you may be wondering what you should get for your Quizmaster this year.  Here are some helpful gift giving ideas:

1. Money.  Did you know this is a 100% volunteer job?  Many Quizmasters not only spend their day thinking up new drinking rounds but also how they're going to pay their rent at the end of the month.  Give them a helping hand - and a check for $846.00 please.

2. Cash money.  Did you know that Quizmasters show up at the bar and read questions out of the goodness of their hearts?  Show them you appreciate their timely scorekeeping by slipping them a $20 - after each round.

3. Venmo electronic cash.  Did you know Quizmasters sometimes face harassment from players over questions and answers that they didn't write and have no actual knowledge of?  Help your host relax this holiday season by purchasing them a massage - via an e-drop of money to their online account.

4. Spare change. Did you know 90% of Quizmasters use quarters to wash and dry their laundry?  Empty your pockets.  Better yet, stop by the bank before you roll up to the game and weigh down my pockets with some sweet rolled $2o's.

5. Kindness.  Did you know Quizmasters respond better when you speak to them like a human?  Be kind - give me money.

6. Are you understanding this yet?  Don't act like your broke ass doesn't have anything to spare - I see you racking up those gift cards every week and not paying for a single onion ring.  Give. Me. Your. Money.

The Last Jedi is one week away but know what's even more exciting than that: King Trivia's Star Wars themed trivia challenge night!  Okay, okay, maybe that doesn't sound as exciting buuuuut when you go see Luke Skywalker speak his first words in 30 years, will he hand you everyone else in the theater's money?  Nope.  But if you go to the King Trivia Star Wars Challenge, will you be able to Force choke cash out of your competitors?  Well - only if you're ready for a real challenge.  Okay, you've seen the OT and the PT and the new trilogy a handful of times.  So has everyone else.  King Trivia is known for its deep cuts - so if you really want to succeed next weekend, take some study tips from the Jedi Master himself:

Did you know Chewbacca has a wife?  And a son?  No?  Then head on over to YouTube, say a prayer, and force yourself to watch the Star Wars Holiday Special.  And maybe take note of how long it runs - ya know, just for those pesky tie breaker questions.

There's a whole Extended Universe of Star Wars lore.  Sure, it's been done away with now and dubbed "Legends" but there's bound to be a question or two about these ill-fated adventures.  Recognize the name Mara Jade?  The Yuuzhan Vong?  Joruus C'baoth?  Bitch, you better get reading!

Star Wars Rebels, The Clone Wars, Forces of Destiny - you know about these animated series that dive even deeper into bridging the gaps between the trilogies, right?  Oh good.  So you're aware Darth Maul has a brother.  And that Jar Jar Binks played a pivotal role in shutting down the Galactic Senate and enabling Palpatine to seize full control.  Good, good.  Now go check out Tartakovsky's The Clone Wars and see how badass General Grievous could have been.

Do you know your Hutts from your Jawas?  Your Grans from your Rodians?  Your Banthas from your Aqualish?  They don't all look alike, racist.

What's the name of the bartender at the Mos Eisley Cantina?  The Rancor keeper?  The blue elephant who plays keyboard at Jabba's Palace? Background characters are everything in the Star Wars universe.  Watch that cantina scene again and again until you can identify each of its weird denizens.  Then rinse and repeat.

Video games.  Don't overlook this.  Did you know Darth Vader had a secret apprentice?  Can you describe Project Resurrection in five words or less?  Don't give up your 10 point lead because you didn't shine a lightsaber on this darker corner of the galaxy far, far away.

You might have gone into this tournament as a Padawan but best believe that with the right training, you too could be a Jedi Master - and also earn enough money at the challenge to go see Last Jedi in theaters again and again and again and again.
