QUIZ RECAP

On Wednesday night April 25th, 6 teams competed for their chance to win gift cards to Tempe's College Bar & Grill! Our competitors for the evening were Dad Says Hi, Team Bippus, A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot, Garbage, Greg/Amy Sucks, and The Avengers League.

In Round 1 these teams showed that they do in fact posses a general knowledge of things! After the first round Dad Says Hi took the lead with 5 points total, getting all but question correct. In second with a tie of 4 points was The Avengers League and A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot, also with a tie for third place with 3 points was Garbage and Greg/Amy Sucks. In fourth place was Team Bippus with just two points. A very close start for all of these teams.

Our best gamers in Round 2 were The Avengers League and Dad Says Hi. The Avengers League missed only one of the answers for this round, guessing that Taizo Hori/Dig Dug was Bomber Man. Dad Says Hi completed this round with flying colors and wisely played their Double or Nothing giving them an additional 16 points to their score. Team Bippus also played their Double or Nothing in this round however they only identified 5 of the characters so they earned just 10 points for this round. Teams Greg/Amy Sucks earned 5 points, A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot earned 6 points, and Garbage earned just 4 points in this round.

Round 3 was not so sweet for our players last night, team Garbage earned the most amount of point in this round walking away with an additional 4 points bringing their total score now up to 11 points. Dad Says Hi and A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot both earned 3 points bringing their scores now to 32 and 21 respectively. Greg/Amy Sucks and Team Bippus both earned 2 points in round 3 bringing their scores to 10 and 14. The Avengers League had the least amount of points earned in this round walking away with just 1 additional point, leaving them with 12 points total.

All of our teams were able to guess the mystery person in Round 4 before we even got to the 4 point clue! This worked for everyone except for Team Bippus who incorrectly had guessed Kevin Spacey, losing themselves 1 point. However, teams A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot, The Avengers League and Garbage all guessed correctly after the second clue earning their teams 8 additional points! Greg/Amy Sucks and Dad Says Hi both guessed correctly after the third clue earning their teams 6 points. By the end of Round 4 Dad Says Hi was in the lead with 32 points, with A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot in second with 21 points. Following closely behind in third place was The Avengers League with 20 points, and trailing behind them with 19 points was Garbage. In fifth place we had Greg/Amy Sucks with 16 points and Team Bippus in sixth with 13 points.

Round 5 proved to be a moderately tough challenge for the majority of teams playing with just 3 of the teams finding the common theme of the round. Shout out to teams A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot, Dad Says Hi, and Greg/Amy Sucks for correctly guessing 'soccer' as the connection! These teams also earned the most points for this round with A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot earning 8 points, Dad Says Hi earning 7, and Greg/Amy Sucks earning 6. Team Bippus earned the next best amount of points getting 4 points for their team. The Avengers League earned just 2 points. Team Garbage got a few of their answers correct, however they chose to apply their Double or Nothing in this round and left the round with nothing.

These teams were McLovin Round 6 with 3 of the teams missing only just a single answer! Team Bippus and Dad Says Hi both assumed that the Cheese Empanadas were from Spain instead of Chile. Greg/Amy Sucks and A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot both also thought the Cheese Empanadas were from Spain, however both played their Double or Nothing's in this round and unfortunately did not earn any points in this round. The Avengers League only got 3 of their answers correct in this McDonald's McMatch-Up round.

All of our teams were feeling too good last night in Round 7! 5 of the 6 teams guessed correctly on every single one of our fallen Marvel heroes. The Avengers League very wisely played their Double or Nothing in this final round and it certainly paid off for those 24 points to end off their game (includes additional points for pen return). Our only team to miss an answer in this round last night was Garbage who guessed Shuri, and while technically she did get dusted by Thanos' snap she was not included on this list.

By the end of the game last night Dad Says Hi was in first place with a total of 60 points. In second was The Avengers League with 49 points. In third was A Cold Snack and A Hot Shot with 41 points. Fourth, Garbage with 39 points. Team Bippus came in fifth place with 38 points. And finally with 34 points was Greg/Amy Sucks.

College Bar & Grill hosted another King Trivia event on Wednesday April 17th and practically everyone in the bar entered for the opportunity to prove they knew more than the rest.

Our Round 1 General Knowledge seemed to be common knowledge for a majority of the teams playing with most teams leaving the round with almost full points. Almost all teams were very close in scores at this point of the game.

To my personal surprise almost every team did very well in our Visual Round 2. They certainly knew their ways around food packaging labels! Your Mom's New Boyfriend wisely used their Double or Nothing in Round 2 which brought them to the lead with 20 points total. At a tie for second with 10 points came the Pussy Poppin Pirates and Your Mom's Pool Boy, and in a tie for third place with 9 points were Team Bippus and I'm Not Picky, sitting solidly in fourth place was Thee $5 Pitchers with 6 points total.

It seemed that this particular group of players knew their superstitions with most of the teams earning full points for the round. Unfortunately for teams Pussy Poppin Pirates and Thee $5 Pitchers they did not earn any points in the round. Both used their Double or Nothing plays and both thought that the phrase "bless you" came from the fear that you could lose your heartbeat instead of your soul/spirit.

Apparently we had some big fans of Elizabeth Banks last night, as 4 out of the 6 teams guessed her correctly in our Guess Who round after only 2 clues earning their teams 8 points for the round. Team Bippus got it after 4 clues and Your Mom's Pool Boy got it on our last clue for the round. By the end of Round 4 Your Mom's New Boyfriend was maintaining their lead with 34 points, with I'm Not Picky in second with 23 points, a three-way tie for 18 points between Team Bippus, Pussy Poppin Pirates, and Your Mom's New Pool Boy, and in fourth place with 14 points was Thee $5 Pitchers.

After Round 4 teams Pussy Poppin Pirates and Your Mom's New Pool Boy both dropped out leaving the 4 other teams to claim their prize for trivia knowledge. The remaining teams all did pretty well in Round 5. Special shout out to I'm Not Picky for earning the most points in our Find the Connection round as well as being able to identify the common theme! By the end of this round Your Mom's New Boyfriend was still sitting in first now with 49 points, I'm Not Picky in second with 30 points, Thee $5 Pitchers in third with 29 points, and Team Bippus closely behind with 27 points.

In Round 6 Thee $5 Pitchers and Your Mom's New Boyfriend both won all points for this round. Team Bippus got half the points available. I'm Not Picky mismatched one of these cliffhangers but unfortunately used their Double or Nothing meaning they won no points for this round.

Finally in Round 7 our remaining contenders each got a majority of the answers correct, proving to be even more than just a little bit country. Team Bippus did not earn any points for this round however after applying their Double or Nothing. I'm Not Picky knew their way around the barn and guessed every artist correctly! By the end of the game Your Mom's New Boyfriend still carried the lead with 56 points total, in second was I'm Not Picky with 44 points, in third was Thee $5 Pitchers, fourth was Team Bippus with 27 points, and in a tie for fifth place with 18 points were the Pussy Poppin Pirates and Your Mom's New Boyfriend.

QUIZ RECAP

On Wednesday evening 3 teams battled for their chance to win gift-cards at College Bar & Grill. Round 1 was a steady round for all with most teams getting almost every point and others gaining additional points for registering their teams online. But the scores were close with The Bee's Knees in first place with 7 points, Weird Sisters in second with 6 points, and Greg Sucks in third with 5 points. In Round 2 all teams doubled their total points, proving that they know their movies even with poorly drawn posters. Round 3 was a little tougher for Weird Sisters and Greg Sucks, who each only earned 3 points for the round, leaving Weird Sisters with 15 points and Greg Sucks shortly behind with 13 points. However, The Bee's Knees maintained their lead earning 5 points for the round bringing their total up to 19 points. In our Guess Who round every single team lost a point, but amusingly enough they all incorrectly guessed the same answer which was Amelia Earhart. Round 5 was another tough one for these three teams but they all did their best and Greg Sucks was the only team able to find the connection to all of the answers. By the end of Round 5 The Bee's Knees kept their first place with 23 points while Greg Sucks pulled up their score bringing them to a tie with Weird sisters at 18 points. Each of these teams utilized their Double or Nothing plays in Round 6. Greg Sucks and The Bee's Knees were able to correctly guess all of the answers which gave them each 20 points for the round! However, the Weird Sisters got one of their answers incorrect which left them with no points for the round. Greg Sucks fought hard to bring up their score and after Round 7 brought themselves up to second place with 49 points total, Weird Sisters in third with their 24 points, and The Bee's Knees finished on top with 53 points total!
