Happy week of National Pizza Day!
We had a stellar turnout and a stellar Pizza-themed Drinking Round! Where everyone went around in a circle and named an ingredient they'd want on a pizza and had to pay close attention and retain / remember each other's ingredients! It started to sound like a real grocery shopping list by the end -- and made everyone crave a yummy GOAL pie!
We saw Italian meatballs, broccoli, pepperoni, anchovies, burrata, garlic, pineapple, basil, extra cheese, cilantro, onions, red onions, black olives, green olives, bacon, tiny pieces of bread, and egg!
And just writing that list again made me hungry...
CONGRATS to Mark Dellham Sux for winning their first-ever drinking round! And they've been playing with us at GOAL since September! So, resilience pays off -- so happy for y'all 😀
Another highlight of the night was for the arcade game themed round when I asked "Billy Mitchell was the antagonist in what documentary about Donkey Kong?"
The right answer? The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.
The wonderfully creative incorrect answers? Donk-umentary and Barreled.
HUGE shoutout to new player Ben who's visiting us from New York and ended up in second place!! That Round Seven was definitely tailored well towards GOAL and sports trivia buffs!
GOAL Regulators came in third after it went into a tie with Ben to guess how many goals were scored during the 2019 Women's World Cup.
And our first place team of the night, I Lost My Virginity At...won with 64 points in honor of their team member, Swade, who had relocated to Mexico but is visiting again this week!
YAY good times all around!
Oh another fun moment -- "Which video game superstar was originally known as 'Jumpman'?"
"Drunk Man?"
"No -- Jump Man. Though Drunk Man would be a great name for a videogame too. Maybe you could incorporate some 3D beer goggles into the game or something. Make it super VR."
But wait, no, it's so much more fun to be at an ACTUAL bar like GOAL getting drinks with your friends and playing trivia rather than playing some videogame with virtual reality!
See y'all next week!
I am so happy to have been back -- I missed everyone!
We had to go two weeks without trivia -- well, one week was silent and then the other week was canceled because of the World Series Game 7.
And tonight, we had a very pleasant twist in our game, with wonderful trivia trainee Ellie, who went above and beyond!
Not only were we super efficient together, doing a Survey Slam drinking round and tag-teaming in between rounds, but she also caught onto scorekeeping and hosting on the mic so naturally!
We had a fun time naming adorable Arctic creatures and everyone got our Guess Who? tonight. What a record!
Both Toby Rollers and Spicey-Meat-a-Ball doubled down successfully for the Piano Man Find the Connection -- and then Mark Dellham Sucks went and surprised everyone with their successful double down of the President and time in office handout round!
By the end of the night, not one team could name more than three U2 albums -- with Mark Dellham Sucks calling out Round 7 for being ageist!
But the night ended with an exciting tie between Toby Rollers and Mark Dellham Sucks, with Mark Dellham Sucks pulling on ahead by guessing 630 for A.Rod's number of homeruns hit during MLB games. Toby Rollers guessed 501 and the right answer was 696!
Thank you all for coming out and see y'all next week! Also, thanks for letting me wear my Ariana Grande Halloween outfit cuz I didn't see ya last week on Halloween.
Hey, it's Hollywood -- it's Halloween year-round!
