Team San-YAY came to play this WINS-DAY!!!

That's right, everyone -- I do have friends outside of the GOAL fam! See, I wasn't making them up all this time!

We had an uproariously fun game because let's just say -- that drinking round, tho.

Me: "Well, I never thought I'd say the words 'heart-pounding action' and 'U.S. Presidents' in the same sentence -- but I guess that happened tonight."

The entire bar watched, with bated breath, as all eight representatives from each team battled it out during the Drinking Round, naming Presidents with the ease and flow as ...well, as people who really, really know their former Chiefs of Staff.

All the Roosevelts.

All the Bushes.

All the Andrews.

All the Adams.

Millard Fillmore.

Martin van Buren.

Then,

Three reps were left standing with only six Presidents left uncrossed out.

And then, there were two.

Toby Rollers and San-YAY.

And only three more Presidents to go.

And...as the tension grew and even your QM had to sit down in a booth because of the high-stakes adrenaline, San-YAY emerged VICTORIOUS as the bar, by democratic vote, ruled that Toby Rollers naming Grover Cleveland had already been said -- and even though he served twice, was only on the list once.

SO CONGRATS to SAN-YAY!

And they unanimously named their rep the MVP of the night as they enjoyed shots and Shirley Temples, courtesy of GOAL!

Interestingly enough, Toby Rollers and San-YAY were the only ones who knew the Golden Compass in the theme round, too.

And hey -- I agree with y'all -- Mentos and Orbitz and Icebreakers are all far rounder than Altoids, which are more elongated.

BUT I love my team who guessed BALSAMIC CRAB for the Connection round. Ya knew your oils, just not yo crabs. 🙂

The excitement continued as we had our FIRST-EVER TIE after Round Seven. In all my eight weeks of hosting at GOAL, never have I ever had to go to the Tiebreaker question yet.

But, we went there.

Ohhhhhh, we went there.

Spicey-Meat-a-Ball and Boardwalk 11 both emerged with 61 points -- and Boardwalk 11 emerged the winner of the night with their closer guess for the Super Duper Cut of Deadpool 2!

And my visiting team, Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, well -- thank you for visiting us from the UK! We couldn't let you guys go back home empty-handed!

So it helps that you won Third Place with 58 points.

You get a hat! And you get a hat!

And...well, we only have two hats. But the rest of your team members get amazing swag and a tale of trivia to rehash to all of your colleagues, friends, and family back home who ask what was the BEST part of your trip to LA.

Of course you're gonna say pub trivia at GOAL, right? Right?

What a lovely night full of laughs!

Thank you all for brightening up my WINS-DAY as ALWAYS!

And thank you I Lost My Virginity At... for that glass of wine for your hardworking QM and insisting you couldn't finish that bottle yourself.

Everyone's so nice here at GOAL. Bring more friends!! We wanna expand the fam 🙂

Love my GOAL fam! (As you can tell by your QM insisting on crashing a bunch of the pictures with our House team consisting of the very beautiful Kim, Frank, and Cody!)

What a good time we all had tonight!

We had our beloved regular returning teams along with some fresh new fun faces joining us and also my adorable little helpers, 3rd grader Billy and preschooler Brendan, back again as their mom played a hearty game of trivia.

Just as every great talk show host needs a sidekick, every great trivia host needs one too -- and little Brendan had too much chiming in on the mic, amplifying the suspense, and dancing for the bar. Again, we got a lil KT Quizmaster in training on our hands here.

Our drinking round was, as the kids say, super lit -- and we were all naming MLB teams -- but since we named all of them except the Phillies, the drinking round went into, shall I say it...EXTRA INNINGS.

Yes my tiebreaker was, which MLB team went to a Game 7 in the World Series not one, not two, but three times between the span of 1926 and 1934?

Not the Brooklyn Dodgers, not the New York Yankees, not the Chicago Cubs, not the White Sox, BUT the St. Louis Cardinals!

Great job on Three Must Get Beers -- for aptly naming your team at the start of trivia, then prophesying / foreshadowing just how you three would indeed get beers, from winning the Drinking Round!

But also OH WAIT I get it now. You guys are like the Three Musketeers. It's a play on words. So witty, my trivia crowd. You really make my Wednesdays.

Just like when we go around Drinking Round and say one fun thing we did this week, it warms my heart when one (or more) of y'all say playing trivia at GOAL! 🙂

GOAL Regulators roared ahead early on with a successful Double Down in Round 2 with the Karls/Carls. I Lost My Virginity At... definitely gave the other teams a run for their money as they came back in Round 6 with a very successful Double Down for the talk show host category. Big congrats to Big Beaches for winning the $50 gift card from our sponsor, our next-door neighbor on 3rd Street, Bedhead Pajamas. Get all the summer pajamas you want!

For our Round 5, everyone knew their philosophers -- guessing Thomas Payne, John Locke, and Calvin Hobbes -- but no one got the right one. Francis Bacon! The nautical theme also had some teams wondering whether to put those Pirates or the Mariners for the MLB team-themed q.

And my oh my did everyone know their Ben Affleck movies!

Congrats to our new team, Dr. Spaceman, for guessing nine of the ten movies correctly. The only one they missed (which everyone else missed too) was The Sum of All Fears. Other enjoyably incorrect guesses included Chasing Amy, Dogma, The Town, The Accountant, Mall Rats, and the infamous Gigli.

Can't wait to see y'all next week!

We welcomed our lovely regular teams tonight holding down the fort at GOAL -- with Toby Rollers coming out on top and Spicey Meat-a-Ball following with a close second, and our super cool house team led by Team Captain, the wonderful Sunkrish (who loves shout-outs -- I see you!) of "John Jordan Loves Easy Access" turned "I Love Trivia, but why does John Jordan Make Me Play with My Pants Off?" turned "John Jordan is whispering racist sweet nothings in my ear" turned "I Can't Say This in front of John Jordan, but I Need an Adult's Help" turned "Party at John Jordan's House."

Keep those names comin', Sunkrish -- we always love a game within a game.

Well naming Energy Drinks during the Picture Round was almost easy -- until many got stumped by #3. Which was not Cobra, Slither, or Viper but VENOM. Yes there is apparently a drink called Venom and I personally would not want to drink that. No offense to the title. And #6 was not the v. creative "Knight Fuel" but "Reign."

Another tough round for all was The Comeback round.

Ironically.

See, what happened was -- the teams who did NOT double down got all the answers correct. While the three teams who DID double down were all stymied, perplexed, and perfectly boggled by the same question. No, the company that was bought by Disney for a whopping $4.24 billion was neither Pixar nor LucasFilm but the one and only Marvel!

Let's do a Marvel Cinematic Universe drinking round soon, shall we?

Speaking of the Drinking Round, we had an amazing time naming films starring The Rock -- with a special appearance by The Rock himself. JK it was really just a member of 5Loko who could easily pass for a Rock doppelganger.

Toby Rollers was last one standing there too.

Congrats again to the wedding that happened this week! Spoiler alert, I did not get married, guys.

The Rock did.

And Sunkrish also went to a wedding this weekend, where he gave a Best Man speech 🙂

Wedding season ain't over yet, folks despite how Labor Day is just around the corner!

The Nifty 50s taught us all history lessons -- or reaffirmed the knowledge many teams already seamlessly had -- and then the final round revealed how little OneD knowledge our teams had.

Props to "I Lost My Virginity At..." who was the ONLY team to name all OneD members correctly.

Now I kinda have a mind to play only OneD songs next time for y'all -- and how cool was that when "Don't You Forget About Me" played three questions after the question about that song?

The universe at work, people.

Well, the universe according to trivia.

And thanks guys for all the love over the Sundance Labs Second Round that your quizmaster made it into with her feature script that had a deadline she was hammering out right before trivia! Since most of my usual weekly fun updates are that I showered and slept, I'm happy to have finally had a cool neat fun update to report for this week 🙂

If I can't find a sub for next week, you bet I look forward to seeing your faces next week! And if I do find my sub, I will still look forward to seeing your beautiful faces the week after.

HAPPY SIX-WEEK ANNIVERSARY, GOAL!!!!!!!!

Also big, big thank you to neighbors Bedhead Pajamas for sponsoring our second prize this week -- a lovely $25 gift card. And since we all got caught up talking, our third place team was not depicted so here's your Quizmaster modeling some of the glasses that comes with the swag bucket for third place prize next time!
