ZOOM THEME EVENT: PARKS AND REC! RECAP

With their Paunch burgers and calzones at the ready, our teams were hungry for some "Parks and Rec" themed trivia on Thursday! As Leslie Knope's crush led his own Town Hall, we invited a bunch of Pawnee residents to join us for questions concerning all things Haverford and Perkins. While many scores went the way of Lil Sebastian, several teams managed to stay in an epic five way tie all the way through until the final round. With the endurance of Chris Traeger, three teams ended our game with a nearly perfect score - but much like as in Highlander (a show Ben Wyatt most definitely was obsessed with for a time), there can only be one. And in the end, in a most unprecedented move that would have made the hairs on Ron's mustache twitch, Curlers R Smart and Joan's Gotcha Dancers ended up in a second tie! A tie on top of a tie! Try and sell that at Tommy's Closet! Pulling from the vaults and King Trivia time capsules, we pushed aside Kelley's Twilight novels and pulled out a Halloween-themed Survey Slam question to settle the score.

And in the end, Curlers R Smart treated themselves to a win and will each be mailed a complimentary steak from tonight's sponsor, Charles Mulligan's Steakhouse.

QUIZ RECAP

Happy five-weeks on Zoom, everybody!

Thank you to all who joined us for our Tuesday night trivia -- whether you've been with us all month or just came tonight for the first time, one thing is certain: we hope to see you next week!

It was also wonderful to meet Malcolm, our Marine Biologist + soon-to-be quizmaster and tech director extraordinaire, too. He joined King Trivia before quarantine, and is excited to have trivia back in his life.

We also found out that Chris's favorite Halloween movies are the classics -- Halloween and Scream and that I'm the scaredy-cat of the group so I prefer the psychological thrillers, like the recent Don't Breathe which I thought was actually Do Not Breathe, the gentler version.

Tonight, we started off our General Knowledge round with at least one subject from school represented -- math, geography, English, history, and Spanish!

Then, we had our animal-named audio round featuring Bands/Musicians from the Monkees to Gorillaz, from the Penguins to the Pussycat Dolls.

And then our oh-so-evergreen tree connection in between Rounds 2 and 4, which was my all-time favorite, Cy Young pitchers!

Tim Lincecum will always be my favorite Cy Young pitcher forever for all time, who was not depicted but at least our Randy Johnson was, so we still got a Giant in there amidst all the Dodger fans 🙂

Can you tell I'm excited for Baseball Night?

Well, I'm just as excited for Chris taking the helm for this week, with Parks and Rec night!

Andddd we almost had a three-way tie tonight -- as Zima: Warrior Princess, Taking Care of Quizness, and Chillable Hours went from a five-way tie after Round One (1 of 2, in fact!), then kept vying for the top spot, but Digressionary Funds' Brian roared ahead with his baseball knowledge. He's definitely looking forward to hitting it out of the (trivia) park some more for Baseball Night!
