High scoring game on Wednesday night!
Round 1: Gazpacho and Ace Tomato Co. started off strong with doubles. The other teams had solid scores without doubles.
Round 2: More doubles! This time by Donkey Kongs, Make Trivia Great Again, Tacos! Tacos! Tacos!, and Hug Mansion. Those teams sure know their sports scandals! Ace Tomato Co's double ensured their lead which they held for the rest of the game.
Round 3: Even more doubles by Donkey Kongs, Gazpacho, and Ace Tomato Co. Shelby's 2 unsuccessfully doubled putting them in last place.
ROUND 4: Make Trivia Great Again got the Who Am I question on 10 points! The rest got it on 6 points or below.
ROUND 5: Six teams doubled and got it!
DRINKING ROUND: Pineapple Hill has stand-up a few Thursdays a night. It's hard to get up and make people laugh. So, for the drinking round we had an amateur open-mic night. Each team had to send a representative up to tell a joke. Some fell flat, some made people laugh. I narrowed it down and then the bar voted, choosing Make Trivia Great Again the winner!
ROUND 6: One successful double by Quiz Quistofferson which catapulted them from 7th place to 4th.
ROUND 7: MORE DOUBLES this time by Gazpacho, Ace Tomato Co, and Wednesday Warriors.
Though a fairly close game, Ace Tomato Co stayed in the lead the whole game, with Gazpacho and Make Trivia Great Again not far behind.
It was a tough battle for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on Wednesday at Pineapple Hill!
Gazpacho doubled when they shouldn't have, leaving Ace Tomato Co. and You're a Quizzard, Harry tied for first.
The second round (my favorite this time given the fact that I'm a huge musical theater nerd) stumped the teams except for Ace Tomato Co. who leaped ahead with a double.
Round 4 both Ace Tomato Co and Gazpacho guessed who it was on the 10 point clue.
I'm from Texas and have a lot of friends affected by Hurricane Harvey. For the drinking round, the teams had to guess how many trillions of gallons of water has fallen on TX and LA (24.5 trillion gallons according to the Washinton Post as of 3pm). Both You're a Quizzard, Harry and Gazpacho guessed 18 million, so for the tiebreaker they had to guess if the water was cubed, how many miles one side of that cube would be (2.3 miles, according to the same article). You're a Quizzard, Harry came the closest and won the drinking round.
Trying to catch up with Ace Tomato Co, Gazpacho and You're a Quizzard, Harry took a risk and doubled...unsuccessfully in rounds 5&6 and round 6, respectively.
In Round 7, everyone got the same score, leaving the scores as they were with Gazpacho in 3rd, You're a Quizzard, Harry in 2nd and Ace Tomato Co. in first.
It was an interesting game with some twists and turns on Wednesday at Pineapple Hill. BSFV All Stars, Touchy Feely, No Double and Gazpacho all started strong right out of the gate with a double in Round 1.
Teams had a difficult time finding their inner child in Round 2 where they were supposed to identify the shows The Muppets were parodying.
Every team came back from that difficult round with a successful double in Round 3, a first since I've been hosting.
In Round 4, three teams got the 10 point clue and 4 teams got it on 8 points, also another strong showing.
Round 5 proved to be a bit more difficult, and Round 6 was downright hard for most teams.
For the drinking round, since I traveled to Wyoming to see the total solar eclipse, teams had to guess what the longest total eclipse has been. Gazpacho came the closest by being only a minute shy of the official time, but only one of them was drinking!
Gazpacho was leading by 2 points going into Round 7, but unfortunately they were outdone by knowing the names of the Powerpuff Girls. No Double did double the round, putting them in the lead, and BSFV All Stars doubled, securing their 3rd place status.
Join me next week at Pineapple Hill!
