- PUB QUIZ—Tuesdays @ 8:00pm
Had a blast at Marco Polo again!
I had to double-check that Plankton’s real name wasn’t Curtis since that answer during Round 2 came out of left field! It’s funny to imagine SpongeBob’s arch-nemesis actually being named Curtis. Or Peter Pickle (another guess).
Something I’m absolutely coming to adore about hosting trivia is seeing the guesses people put in when they don’t know the answer. Some of the best this week were “unfair question :(“ and “The Climb by Miley Cyrus” when referring to the NBA theme song.
My favorite overheard line of the night came during the WNBA matching round. Team Loose Buttholes, who admittedly do not know anything about sports, looked at all the options and loudly exclaimed, “what is this, astrology??” I wish this round would have been an answer round because I would have been dying to see the guesses people came up with.
To be fair, the teams include Mystics, Dream, Mercury, so I was picking up astrology vibes as a witchy woman myself. 🙂
Team MissFits placed this week which was wonderful. They’re the most loyal regulars and I was happy to see them take home a prize.
Another great night on the books!

Tonight’s game was super fun. We had returning teams Missfits and Scratch and Sniff, plus some new players!
Nerds everywhere collectively groaned when a team mistook Star Wars for Star Trek. But there was a question or round for everyone tonight. Each team seemed to have a person in their midst with some niche knowledge that came in clutch. I love to see someone surprise their friends with some out-of-pocket facts!
Not only did Team Goblins get the Dante question right, but correctly spelled his last name - Alighieri. Their team member Harrison seemed to have been waiting his whole life for this question to arise.
The love questions were difficult for a lot of people, but we had some valiant guesses. Team Fellowship of the Beer guessed Mr. Poet! Which… I mean…. not completely wrong? But also very much not right. Bold of them to assume it would be a man 😉 hehe.
The Han Solo question was my favorite because only one team figured it out before clue 3. But when the word “Jedi” was mentioned EVERYONE figured it out all at once. I love a collective realization!! A loud one at that!!
Almost every team was able to draw the steak connection during round 5… except Team Missfits who guessed… Tom Cruise? It’s okay, they still get mad respect because they guessed Han Solo before anyone else did.
All in all, it was a great game and I’m throughly enjoying getting to know all the Marco Polo regulars.

Another great night at Marco Polo Bar and Grill! While it seemed that it may be a slow night at first, it turned out to be a great show!
Our regulars, Team Scratch and Sniff were back, with their in-between-round war chant, “Scratch, scratch, scratch, sniff, sniff, sniff!” They of course had a great game and went double or nothing off the bat which gave them an impressive momentum.
Team Ukraine on My Parade made quick work of the game, answering quickly and strongly throughout. Unfortunately, they had to head out early, but I have a feeling they’ll be back next week!
My personal favorite answer was when someone mistook The Dude’s shoes for a character from Gangs of New York. Trying to picture the Bill the Butcher with jelly shoes and a White Russian was hilarious.
We had a riveting final round when it ended in a tie-breaker - how on earth is one supposed to know the exact number of titles in Harvard’s library?? Well that’s what makes the tie-breakers so fun.
In the end, Scratch and Sniff took home the top prize, but we all had a great evening!!
