Boy, were the questions ever tough at Kilarney's last night! With a pretty large turn out
and the stalwart wait staff team known as the Barflies, the joint was jumpin', as they
used to say. As though the fates were taking hand, drama ensued with an unpredictable
outcome as Pickles on a Plate doubled up in Round Six, leapt into a tie with resident
champs Tequila Mockingbird and won a tie breaker to get first place! Wossamata-U, aka
the Old School, took third. Great stuff!

Observations of Mirth:

The Poonswagglers finally got their team T-Shirts! Yay!

Style points went to the team who couldn't name James Gunn as the writer for the next
Suicide Squad movie but went with Arnold Ziffel and Santa Claus.

The majority swapped their South Park cariacture guesses Britney Spears and Paris Hilton
consistently!

Likewise, the majority consistently guessed Caitlyn Jenner was Sandra Huckabee. (Talk
about programming...)

Catfish, Cod and Goat made the list of Beasts We Eat down here, but not on the national
scene.

That's it. I'm out until next week! Have a happy!

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving it was crowd filled and raucous at Kilarney's, with
ten teams going brain to brain in our weekly King Trivia Pub Quiz. This week noted the
return of the Allen Fairview Chamber Friends, newbies Seal Team 3 and an old favorite
we haven't seen in a while, Age & Treachery, who walked out with a third place win.

It was a home team advantage night with resident champs Tequila Mockingbird living up to
their designated nickname once again with a first place win while the Barflies, the
wait staff at Kilarney's, joined in for snagging second. That interestingly cascaded the
prizes down the ranks in a pleasant way, netting Age & Treachery with a second place
prize while Blood, Bath & Beyond, in fourth place, got to take home a third place valued
prize, just for being a customer!

BEST WORST GUESSES:

The Treaty of Versailles was not signed at the end of the Revolutionary War.

The fictional town on Stranger Things is not named Nipplesville, TX.

Pagliacci is not Italian for multiple orgasm.

And that's all the news that fits! Have a happy Thanksgiving and don't over do the
stuffing! So sayeth Quiz Master Lou...

Kilarney's welcomes back the long lost PHD's and the return of Wassamata-U. With this
roster of learned minds, it was a good thing the questions were challenging. Nevertheless,
it was a hard fought and exciting run to the finish line. Also weighing in were the
Tequila Mockingbirds, the IFFY!/Blood, Bath & Beyond alliance as well as the resident
staff team, the Barflies. And a strong welcome to newbies, Seal Team 3. (They do half
the work of the other guys... In a trivia sense, that is.) Last night's question set
was pretty good, too! More trivia and less pop than usual.

Highlights:

It's amazing how many people think Alexander Hamilton looks like Thomas Jefferson. And
it's interesting that he made it onto a ten dollar bill because he shot Perry Mason. I
mean Raymond Burr. Er, Aaron Burr. Six degrees of something there, or too much to drink
on that one...

Under the category, Floor Polish and Dessert Topping: Born on the Fourth of July is an
Oliver Stone film and a Bruce Springsteen song. Oh wait, no it isn't! It's Born in the
USA. "Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it..." By the way, Douglas Rain died.

Kudos on the Guess Who? Round. Really threw a lot of folks, it did. Hint: When you hear
the Quiz Master say god in the clue, that's the time to start thinking mythology!

Excellent Round Five as well. The guesses for hearing the term "hand game" ranged from
Game Boy to Wii. It was a nightmare for some, a dream to others...

All in all, one of the best quiz's to come down the pike in a while. Keep those cards and
letters coming! Until next time, this is Quiz Master Lou signing off!
