Happy Hump Day, boys and girls! Quiz Master Lou reporting, with another installment of
the goings-on at last night's KTPQ at Killarney's! A most interesting night it was, too.
With a chill wind and threat of inclement weather approaching, only the most loyal and
daring of teams came out to play. That, and a few yahoos who came in for warmth, both
exterior and interior if you catch my meaning. This one particular yahoo decided to play.
Unfortunately, it was at the top of her lungs on every round! Fortunately, she didn't
stay long, fleeing shortly after round three, having to go wherever it is yahoos go. To
rendezvous with other yahoos one reckons... And to the relief of our regulars!

Tequila Mockingbird and Seal Team 3 jockeyed for top honors like a couple of thoroughbreds
at Preakness. It was exciting to watch and in the end, TM made the finish line making it
their fourth straight first place win since the new year began (fifth if you count Dec.
31st!) ST3 came in second while Deadly Alliance (aka Blood, Bath & Beyond) took third.

Mirth abounded from some of our perplexed players who, not knowing the answers, went for
style points. (This, made possible by some excellent questions from our quiz writers!)
What show did Baby Yoda first appear on? Star Wars Babies, of course! (Why not? We have
Muppet Babies...) KT tried to trick us by asking which Monty Python member passed in
1989 (Terry Jones just died recently which spurred this idea, methinks!) and while most
knew it was Graham Chapman, one wag put down, "John Cleese, but he's still alive..."
Ouch! Our Picture Round generated some interesting names when trying to guess the celebrity
underneath the Photo-joker application. George Clooney got pegged as Jerry Lewis. Think
about that one... And finally, Chief Wag John the Shadow, answered "What is the study of
amphibians called?" with Kermitology!

That's the Tuesday that was. Have a great week! QM Lou signing off!

The threat (later made good) of stormy weather could not keep the faithful away from
Killarney's last night as a handful of teams descended upon the faux-Irish setting to
test their mettle against the lords of quiz. Overcast, cold and gloomy sums up the
elements but not the mood of our weekly King Trivia Pub Quiz. Winter soldiers all,
welcome!

Our resident champs, Tequila Mockingbird, played high and mighty, leaping into the lead
early in Round Two, cementing it with a solid Double-or-Nothing in Round Three and riding
it all the way to the end, barely pausing to look in the rearview mirror. Deadly
Alliance performed their usual second banana act with a steady placement near the top
for the duration. Those rascally Poonswagglers added some bodies to their posse and
managed to nab third place without a hitch. Wossa Matta-U kept fourth position warm
while Pickles on a Plate and Incognito straggled behind. A rare appearance from the
Dallas Booler's Club promised much but returned little as they petered out early and
left before the final round. A flying platoon comprised of the wait staff, headed by
bearded leader Rick, decided to get in on the action in Round Two, just for kicks. The
score wasn't important, just the team name. The C.D.'s. It has nothing to do with
Compact Discs, I assure you. Nor is Quiz Master Lou going to reveal it in this column
for fear of violating federal obscenity standards!

Much amusement was had in our Wrong Guesses of Desperation Department. Because of the
hooded hawk, Mordecai, from The Royal Tenenbaums, one team guessed the film title as
Mind Your Falcon Business! Theme Round answers that rhyme with "year" but were not
correct included Crocodile Dundeer and Let's Fear Christmas! And finally, those who
couldn't name Daenerys' dragons settled for their own...

Tuesdays at Killarney's is Quiz Master Lou's first gig of the week and is always looked
upon with quiet anticipation for cheer and good fellowship. This particular evening,
for no particular reason, it seemed even more so. From the wait staff to the players,
each and everyone of you is like family. This feeling hit me when I ascended the stage
last night, looked out into the crowd and realized I knew almost everyone of you by sight.
That's a pretty good average. Anyway, just had to share that...

Resident champs, Tequila Mockingbird, knocked back another victory, but not without a few
tense moments of worry from Wossa Matta-U. The old school Double-or-Nothing'd on Round
Six, drove into the lead, only to be overtaken themselves by a one point margin! Pretty
exciting stuff for a Tuesday! Pickles on a Plate narrowly beat out the Junior League
Justice League for third, again by a single point. Nicely done, all!

The Poonswagglers celebrated a birthday (HBD Priscilla!), Incognito didn't, Deadly Alliance
was undermanned, Seal Team 3 under performed and One Left in the Chamber just had one guy
on their team, so QM Lou just called ole lonesome Dave One Left.

Our question set provided its usual surprises and educational value. More than one team
knew what the Corpus Callosum is! One team thought Ireland should be the "rainbow"
country. It follows, yes? This quizmaster had to resist going all 'Ricky Gervais'
during the Guess Who Round and style points were awarded to the team who thought Kevin
Spacey's character in A Bug's Life was named Grasshole. Oh well...

Have a great week, everybody!
