About Mudrock's Tap & Tavern

Once you walk through our door, you’re with friends. Locally owned and family operated, Mudrock’s Tap and Tavern brings the best of life’s simple pleasures together so you can relax, relate and share good times with us.

From breakfast biscuits to delicious burgers, wings and everything in between, we use fresh, natural ingredients and source from neighbors whenever possible. We’re constantly tapping and trying beer and most likely, have your favorites on one of our 30 taps. And yes, the game is always on one of 32 HD screens equipped with every major sports package.

The Mudrock name encapsulates the affinity we have for sports and our town’s community spirit and history. Local Louisville hard-working coal miners and their families loved playing baseball during summer when it was too hot to mine and, being far from pro teams, formed their own clubs. One player, Phil Mudrock, made it to the majors and signed as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in 1963. According to the Lousiville Times, he signed his contract right here behind the Miners Field backstop.

Not too bad. And as we like it, not too fancy. Just right.

What a game tonight at Mudrocks! No fewer than 4 teams hit successful double-or-nothing tries in Round 1: Jetstars, Old Flames, The Seven Wonders, and Lucky 7. That was topped in Round 3, when 6 of the 10 teams present hit doubles: the first 3 mentioned in Round 1 along with Sitzpinklers, Wooshkie and the 3 Amigos. The Seven Wonders, The 3 Amigos and Sitzpinklers all took a -1 in the Guess Who round, dropping them out of contention (or so it seemed); kudos to Old Flames who answered correctly for 8 points in that round. Sitzpinklers hit a double in Round 5 to catapult back into the race, and after 6 rounds 4 teams were separated by a single point at the top. One of the leaders inexplicably doubled and took a 0, while Sitzpinklers and Old Flames ended up tied for 2nd (Sitzpinklers won the tie-break), two points behind behind tonight's winners, Jetstars. Great game, everyone, hope you're all back next week!

Another fun night at Mudrocks! Things started slowly, with Taylor's Version as high scorers in Round 1 with 5 of a possible 6 while Jetstars and first-timers Cream Dream each tallied 4. Taylor's Version and Cream Dream were high scorers in Round 2 with 7 of a possible 8 but then Jetstars rocketed into the lead, following their 6 in Round 2 with a successful double in Round 3 for 12 points. Jetstars were also high scorers in the Guess What round (they got it right for 8 while Cream Dream got it for 6); Taylor's Version seemed out of the running after a -1 in that round but they rebounded with a successful double in Round 5 for 20 points to take back 2nd place from Cream Dream, whose failed double bid netted them zero. Jetstars also doubled for 20 in Round 5, and they were never challenged thereafter. Cream Dream did NOT double in Round 6 when they got 10 out of 10, but DID try for a double in the final round and took another zero; live and learn. Taylor's Version finished 2nd by a comfortable 15-point margin, but no one could challenge tonight's winners, Jetstars. A special thanks to Jacqueline, tonight's Quizmaster-in-training. Thanks to everyone for a fun night tonight at Mudrocks! #momjeans returned and started out strong with a successful double-or-nothing bid to take the early lead, while newcomers Triad were high scorers (along with the moms) with 8 of a possible 10 in Round 2. No fewer than 5 teams hit a double in Round 3: first-timers Sitzpinklers and El Ojo del Mundo along with #momjeans, Jetstars, & The Donnas. EVERYONE ran into a stumper in the Guess Who round, with 4 teams correctly answering for 2 points while 3 took the -1 and Beer Battered declined to answer. Regular order resumed in Round 5, where El Ojo del Mundo were high scorers with 10 of a possible 10 and 3 teams scored 9 while two more scored 8. The game was turned upside-down in Round 6 when the Sitzpinklers (google it LOL) hit a successful double for 20 points to jump one point in front of #momjeans; they stretched the lead by a further point in the final round to win, with #momjeans finishing 2nd.
