QUIZ RECAP

Thanks to those who missed the Presidential Debate to come out tonight...we had a blast!  Jetstars laid down the law from minute 1 tonight, hitting a successful double-or-nothing try rigt out of the gate to take a lead they would not relinquish.  The teams then matched scores for the next 3 rounds (7, 4, and -1) and the margin was still 7 points after 4 rounds...when Pocket Tots decided that their only chance of winning was to double.  They got 8, 8, and 7 answers right in the final 3 rounds but took a zero in each; a guaranteed 2nd-place finish may have figured into their strategy ;-). Jetstars pulled away to win handily, and everyone went home happy.  See you all next week!

QUIZ RECAP

Thanks everyone for a fun evening at Mudrocks! No fewer than 3 teams were high scorers in Round 1 (5 of a possible 6): Jetstars, Two Geese and first-timers All Stars.  Jetstars were also high scorers in Round 2 (8 out of 8) and led after 2 rounds...until a failed doble dropped them back into the pack; they (along with 3 other teams) fell for the banana in the tailpipe thinking that Sunny von Bulow was the husband 😉

At this point Taylor's Version seized control of the game, scoring 8-9-10 in Rounds 4-5-6 (27 of a possible 30 points) to build a lead that none could surpass in the final round. EVERYONE got the Guess Who question right (Taylor's Version got it for 8 points), and they and Jetstars were the only ones to tumble to the Beetlejuice theme in the Find The Connection round; Jetstars scored 8-8 in Rounds 5 and 6 to secure 2nd place.  Round 7....was a mean one. Jetstars (HS teachers) actually named 6 of the largest moons in the solar system correctly, whiler Taylor's Version got 4 to win by 5 points; the other 3 teams all scored 1 point in that round with...the moon LOL. A good time was had by all, and I look forward to seeing you all next week!

QUIZ RECAP

Thanks everyone for another fun one at Mudrock's tonight! No fewer than 3 teams converted successful double-or-nothing tries: Taylor's Version, Jetstars and The (remote) Newlywed Gamers.  The Even Primes, not to be outdone, hit a double of their own in Round 2 to take a lead they would not relinquish (they followed that as high scorers in Round 3 as well). The Quizmaster had a tough decision in the Guess What round, ultimately docking both Jetstars and Beer Battered a point for answering The Dark Knight Rises; while the correct response "The Dark Knight" was contained in their answer, "Rises" is the title of a different movie.  Fair but firm...

Jetstars (high scorers in Round 5 with 9 of a possible 10) rallied to close the gap on 2nd place but ultimately fell 3 points shy of Taylor's Version.  A tip of the hat to first-timers A Really Good Book who were game throughout and acquitted themselves well.  See you all next week!
