QUIZ RECAP

Another fun night at Pour Tap House on a beautiful Tuesday evening! Welcome back Names are for Tombstones! How I've missed you 🙂 Thanks Mary and Christina for slinging drinks all evening and thanks La Baja for your yummy tacos! 

Teams loooooved Round 6. Not gonna lie, I was pretty impressed by every team's knowledge of the majority of those featured artists. Round 4 was also a pleasant surprise, with most teams guessing correctly at the 8 point or 6 point clue. Yay sportsball! 100% of teams had a rough go of it during Round 7. I learned a lot about what it means to provide historical context to map making. Great job Lancers for stumping the quizmaster (honestly, folks, is there ever going to be a time when I don't get stumped?) - hope you enjoyed your free beers!

Danger Zone ! deserves props for getting that first place spot (with a little assist from a tie breaker question) as a team of two. First and Last in Gym Class tried heroically to claim the number one position but they came up juuuuust short. Names Are For Tombstones made me laugh with their wrong answers all night, so they got the last grab for bar cash.

QUIZ RECAP

It was a capacity house at Pour tonight, and your substitute Quizmaster had his hands full with a lively crowd. 10 teams started, 2 dropped out along the way while an 11th joined in for two rounds and departed...but 8 teams went the distance.

LDS and Baskinskilledhusband each successfully converted a double-or-nothing right out of the gate (the latter left after 3 rounds) to take the early lead; LDS. Moms Who Drink and Razzle Dazzle were high scorers (with 8 out of 8) in the Picture Round.  Moms Who Drink and Razzle Dazzle each hit the double in round 3 but LDS and Boo Crew each correctly answered the Guess Who question on the 10-point clue, keeping the top of the table crowded. LDS and Moms Who Drink each tallied 9 of a possible 10 in the Find The Connection round, leaving them tied for first and 9 points clear of the field...at which point all hell broke loose.  The house wi-fi was so overloaded that it crashed, and after a few minute of troubleshooting there was nothing to do but go old school and do the last two rounds on paper.  Plus, I got to do math at the end...!  The "trick question" in the Handout Round tripped up 3 teams who went for the double and got the other 9 correct answers; they all mistook Notre Dame Cathedral (Paris) for Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, with Drinkers With A Trivia Problem, Razzle Dazzle and Moms Who Drink each taking a zero in that round.  One of the MWD was overtly angry about it...good times!

LDS led by 20 entering the final round, meaning all they had to do was notch one point to win....and they scored 10 of a possible 10 to win in style!  Moms Who Drink also got all 10 right to finish 2nd while Boo Crew got 9 right to take the bronze.  Many thanks to all who turned out, your regular host Danielle will be back next week!

Yay for tacos! Yay for trivia! Yay for tacos and trivia!

It was a grey evening outside but a very festive atmosphere inside as we worked our way through a fun couple hours of displaying random knowledge. Mary and Christina kept it real behind the bar, and La Baja served up their very delicious tacos. Thanks, as always!

Great job Steven Hawking's Rejects in Round 2 for including a classic line from one of Jane Curtin's sketches as a Weekend Update co-anchor. That's how you score that sweet, sweet third place bar cash! Most teams found a connection during Round 5, it just wasn't the exact connection I was looking for. I'm a generous grader though or, as one team described, a "modern-day teacher" because I give you points when I know what you're getting at with the connection. Now that I think about it, that team may not have been complimenting me...

We said welcome back to Midas Whales and got introduced to Real Housewives of Reunion for the first time (pleeeease tell me you're in talks with Bravo execs for a reality show)! Great job Drinkers with a Trivia Problem for your first place win. Sorry First and Last in Gym Class for not playing your song request. Next time there will be Kanye for dayz.
