Hididdlyho, Trivia Team-orinos! I am very bittersweet about last night's evening of trivia. On the one hand, it was SUPER fun and we had teams move up and down the rankings all night long. On the other hand, we had to say goodbye to bartender Mike, who has held us down and kept us hydrated at Pour Taphouse for eons. And by "eons" I obviously mean, "ever since I started hosting trivia at Pour and like six months prior to that." Mike played trivia and his team totally pwnd (kids, am I saying that right?) it. Great job The Misfits for grabbing first place.

Round 3 was about gangsters and things you can wrap with, cleverly tilted "Gangster Wrap." Do you know how hard it is to find family-friendly, self-identified gangster rap songs to play during the answer breaks? It is reeeeeallllly hard. I managed to find two, and even then, I had to compromise with allowing some swear words that were mumbled and thus unintelligible. Usually Round 3 serves to separate out teams, but all teams last night did really well during that round. Even more surprisingly, all teams had a mastery of the direction of the Mississippi River in Round 7 and 3 teams got a perfect score by correctly identifying the states that the river runs through or borders. I honestly never thought "Iowa" would be an answer to any question that didn't have to do with the first caucus of the presidential election cycle, but apparently questions about the Mississippi River provide another opportunity to share one's Iowa knowledge.

Thanks Buff Ladybugs for finally officially playing trivia! You always hang out at the bar during the game but never actually submit any answers, and I was so so so happy to welcome you to your first night of being judged unmercifully for your ability to recall random facts in a limited time frame. Great job to Wrath of Lulu for coming up with an excellent question to stump the quizmaster (the inventor of Saran Wrap? Yeah...I didn't even get that person's profession right). And, of course, thanks ever so much to First and Last in Gym Class for making the the night fun and always showing up with enthusiasm and hilarious answers.

See you next Tuesday for trivia and tacos!!

Woo Hoo! Eight teams came. Eight teams stayed. Eight teams conquered. And tacos and beer were enjoyed by all. Mike (whose last night is next Wednesday *tears*) and Danielle did a fantastic job behind the bar and La Patrona delivered up the yummy goods at the food truck.

In an epic first for my time as a King Trivia quizmaster, we had SIX - count 'em - SIIIIX teams double up in Round 2 and get perfect scores! And that wasn't the end of the perfection. There were an additional six different instances of successful doubling up throughout the evening. Mind. Blown. That, of course, made for a fun night because teams kept jostling among the rankings, accompanied by friendly heckling and periodically shouting out wrong answers (no, Obama was not the first black person invited to the White House in 1901).

It was a nail bitter down to the very end. Great job Menace to Sobriety for your first place victory! Shout out to Midas Whales - you were dethroned from your typical first place spot, but you still took home second. And congrats to NKOTB for making a much better showing this week and coming in 3rd. Loved the answers in emoji form from 5000 Candles in the Wind during round 5.

See you next week for more tacos and trivia!

Well, I took a 2 hour break from obsessively listening to my favorite Frasier podcast in order to host trivia at Pour. My husband was glad for a merciful reprieve from hearing two British dudes drone on and on endlessly about esoteric Frasier facts. We are both happier for it!

A few first time teams played last night, which is always a fun time. La Baja was a magnificent source of tacos as usual . And Mary and Matt behind the bar kept everyone jovial throughout the evening.

Teams seemed to really like the Find the Connection round (round 5) and even though not everyone picked up on the connection, that ended up being the best round for most teams. I honestly didn't know Round Table was a pizza chain. Round 4 was another popular round, with every team correctly guessing the "who" that the clues described. Finally, I was extremely impressed that so many teams knew the member of One Direction who dreamed that aliens told him to leave the band. I'm guessing he's regretting listening to those extraterrestrials.

Great job Assistant to the General Manager for sweeping first place. Super proud of First and Last in Gym Class for doubling up in round 5 and climbing from last place to second place. 2 Beenies 2 Weenies lost one of their Weenies toward the end of the night and still pulled off third place - congrats!
