A full house at Pour ran headlong into an overloaded network tonight...but (most) everyone soldiered on and we ended up having a great night.

Trivia Newton John and Danger Zone! were high scorers in Round 1 (with 5) but Unstable Geniuses hit a successful double-or-nothing in the Picture Round for 16 points and a lead they would never relinquish....though they could hear footsteps by the end! First & Last In Gym Class and Golf Score Heroes each got 7 of 8 right in that round, it should be mentioned.

TNJ, Danger Zone and the Geniuses were high scorers in the Theme Round but Cereal Killers, fresh off a missed double (and a zero) in Round 3 were the only team to name Carlos Santana at the 8-point clue in the Guess Who round. After scoring 6 of 10 in the Find The Connection round, Unstable Geniuses led by 10 and looked to be cruising...but a 3 in the Handout Round left the door open and both Trivia Newton John and Gym Class notched 10 out of ten to make the final round intersting.  Unstable Geniuses rebounded to score 8 out of 10 in Round 7 to win by 4 over Trivia Newton John, (7 in round 7).  Incredibly, Cereal Killers hit a double in the final round, and the 20 points left them in a tie for 3rd with Danger Zone!

Both teams were WILDLY off in their tiebreaker answers (total weight of the Statue of Liberty), but Danger Zone! were closer and finished 3rd.  Hats off to everyone who stuck it out to the end; you're all a nice bunch and I hope to see y'all again!

Yay for the triumphant return of Taco Tuesdays at Pour Tap House! We missed our beloved taco truck, La Baja, the last couple of weeks. But fortunately they were back and just as delicious as ever. We also got to see our favorite substitute bartender, Chris! He, along with the lovable Mary, served up the suds all evening long and were fantastic.

Very impressed with teams' knowledge of old album cover artwork because, honestly, no one buys albums anymore so we have no idea what album covers look like these days. Man, the last album I bought was Jay-Z's 4:44, which was all the way back in 2017. That feels like a lifetime ago. Ah, to be young again. Round 5 was a tough one. While most teams guessed the theme, no team had a working knowledge of old German filmography, which turned out to be a disadvantage. Gotta step your game up, players - dust off the encylopedia or whatever people use these days to learn history and bring your esoteric knowledge to the table next week.

Great job Lancers for stumping the quizmaster! To be fair, I basically set myself up for failure with such a broad category. Cereal Killers and Drinkers with A Trivia Problem battled it out in a nail-biting tie-breaker round for first and second place (spoiler alert: congrats Cereal Killers!). We welcomed back Trivia Newton John which was exciting. Favorite team name goes to Jeff Bezos Is a Dick and So Is His Rocket

See ya next week for more tacos and trivia!

Happy MLB  All  Star Week here in the Mile High City! I so very much appreciated those teams that decided* to forgo a memorable baseball experience and instead play trivia at Pour Tap House. Kristina and Matt served up drinks behind the bar and did an excellent job as always. We were food truck-less, but that just means that Teams used the heck out of their food delivery apps to order yummy food from the surrounding area.

Some of my favorite wrong answers throughout the evening: Round 2 - "The guy that looks like Liam Neeson."  Round 5 - "Giada de la grocery store." Round 7 - "Sailor  Moon" "Death Star" and "Cheshire Cat." Any time teams include an emoji with their answers, I'm delighted. I also loved how many teams consider Franklin D. Roosevelt to be a famous poet.

This was probably the hardest "Stump the Quizmaster" question that I've ever gotten. Despite the difficulty, I still felt ashamed for not knowing the answer because in reality it was a bit obvious. Great job Moms Who Drink for your first place win. Fragglerock came in a close second! And I was very impressed by The Flerkins intimate knowledge of Olivia Wilde, so they took home the mystery 3rd place prize.

*And by "decided" I of course mean "could not get tickets so, you know, why not drink at a bar instead."
