The VIBE:

Two words: SO LOUD.

The GAME:

Rounds 1& 2 started off strong with many teams doubling-up early. But it was.....

It was Rounds 3 & 4 that separated the men from the boys. Hang on. That's probably not PC anymore. Ummm....separated the teams who were ready to play trivia from the teams who were READY to play trivia. There. Happy?

After four rounds and watching their scores dive (into their beers perhaps?) we lost five teams...

But the 5 teams that stuck it out - made it quite interesting!

Round 5/Find the Connection was solid for all teams - with nobody scoring less than 8 points - and we learned that roman numerals are rather pointless. We're talking to you, William Shakespeare VII.

After Round 6/Matching and some "Presidential Trump opinions", we moved into the final round...which was still anyone's game!

The final round was rather difficult because it was 3 questions each with 3 answers (3x3) that ranged from Chevy Chase to Cape Town with a dash of a 3 Musketeers candy bar. Oh. Wait. I'm getting reports it was just the people. No actually candy this time. Hmmm. Well, yum either way.

The RESULTS:

It was neck and neck until Quizzed My Pants pulled out 13 combined points with their last 2 rounds and securely locked down - 3rd place ($25)

The Tea Lizards played a great game - rocking out 50 points, 2nd place, and $50!

But the $100 Champions of the Night (56 points) caught a hot run after Round 4 and just kept winning while singing to their birthday girl. Way to go....

QUIZ RECAP

The VIBE:

Rowdy. Sporty. Beanery.

I was damn excited to step foot into this venue...mostly because it is one of my neighborhood bars (so, yes I could start walking here)...but also because I knew this crowd would be tons o' fun. And they were!

The GAME:

Round 1 started the game pretty strong with most teams scoring 5 or 6 points right off the bat.

Round 2/Pictures seemed to be the easiest by far - with only 4 teams NOT receiving a perfect 16. Not to mention, things started to really heat up when we got to see her....

Round 3 pissed a bunch of teams off who all guessed "peas" instead of "corn". Wait what? Exactly.

Once we got to the 4 point clue, that's when most of the crowd realized Round 4/Guess Who? was referring to Santa Monica's own, Jack Black.

I brought out my signature shoot-out game for The Drinking Round...and this place went nuts. Such great energy. We had to take it to a play-off round 3 times before we declared a winner. Way to go, dude who won!

Round 5/Find the Connection was the big turning point for Beanz In the Trap and Gangway for Footcycle! who both doubled-up and started going after that mega $100 first place trophy aka gift card...

I wanted to surprise the girl from It's My Birthday...since it was her birthday....so I had the crowd sing. My god were they awful. I mean, barely above listenable. It was so bad I apologized on their behalf.

In Round 6/Matching, we learned that a cockatrice is a serpent with a rooster head.

And in Round 7, we learned that Kansas, Wyoming, and Montana are not trying to be know for their farms.

The RESULTS:

Normally here, I will break down every team and discuss how they finished, what they ate for dinner, and sometimes their middle pet's favorite licorice flavor. Sometimes.

But today I will make you shift your eyes to that giant list below and just read them please....because....I want to share with you a brief incident....

Four teams were registered through King Trivia. But only ONE didn't tell me. And OF COURSE that team was really good....and OF COURSE they finished 2 points behind the #1 team. Sooooo, after retrieving the $100 gift card back from the previous winners, I HAD TO DO AN OVERLY DRAMATIC TIE-BREAKER!!
