The competition for trivia supremacy is always intense, but last night's battle royale at The Back Door Bakery Cafe in Sunland/Tujunga was one for the books. As is often the case, Hodge Podge finished in 1st place with a robust 89 points. But the real battle took place for the number two slot!
The fight pitted Oh No! BoJo! against Team of Won (which is, in fact, a team of ONE!) and required a tie-breaker to decide the matter. When it was done, the boisterous Bojos edged out the Won for the 2nd place win, and another raucous and wonderful evening of trivia fun was in the books.
But is that the end of the story? Oh No, Bojo, it's not! We'll be back next week to put everyone to the test once again. See ya then!

This quizmaster is never surprised when Hodge Podge scores big. They're a tough competitor who has competed in past Tournaments of Champions and will likely do so again. But what WAS surprising, last night at The Backdoor Bakery Cafe, was the moment HP stalwart Lorraine got up on her table and started gyrating uncontrollably to Chumbawamba's Tubthumping.
Yup, it's an irresistible tune, and as the song so memorably declares, she might get knocked down. But she gets up again! (And man-oh-man, can she dance!)
But then again, the same can be said of the terrific team of Shana Maidelas, who got knocked down in round one with an unsuccessful double-or-nothing attempt, only to come roaring back with an impressive 55-point finish to land in second place.
But perhaps the real winners of the night were our third-place finishers, 4 Saintly Troublemakers. After all, prizes at the Back Door Bakery are awarded in "upside-down" fashion, with the biggest prize going to third place! Which was great for the Troublemakers, and doesn't bother the Hodge Podge crew much, since they're hoping to win $10,000 later on at the big tournament! (They finished 17th last year, and are on pace to do even better this time around!)

We had 3 teams tonight and all were ready to play and bring the competition!
The ShanaMaidela's took a fairly strong lead early on and kept their lead for most of the game. With the other two teams it was back and forth with Hodge Podge jumping ahead of the Slytherpuffs in the Guess Who round, being the only ones to get it on the 6 point clue.
Later on some double or nothing's were used and some paid off while others fell flat. Needless to say for the last few rounds it stayed ShanaMaidela's in 1st, Hodgepodge 2nd, and Slytherpuffs 3rd, and that is how the game ended.
