A lovely evening with a room full of friends at The Back Boor Bakery Cafe this week, as we engaged in another round of friendly trivia competition. Shaina Maidelas knocked frequent winner Hodge Podge down a few notches by taking the night. And The Saucy Savages rounded out the top three with a solid performance.
The Savages (photos 3, 4 & 5 above) seemed a little extra saucy this week, but not especially savage, to be honest. Perhaps a bit more savagery might propel them to the top of the heap. (or maybe more sauce? Difficult to say for sure.)
The Dog Buttlers (photo #2 above) garner a shout out here because they're terrific players and I like their team name. Gotta ask what a dog buttler is, though. Do they serve tea? I'll ask 'em, and report back next week with the explanation.

Can a local eating establishment be emblematic of an entire community? I don't know. Perhaps that's hoping for too much. But I'd like to believe that the fine folks who own and operate The Back Door Bakery Cafe - and the equally fine folks who gather to laugh and kibbutz and quiz here every Wednesday night - are an accurate representation of the entire Sunland/Tujunga community.
And if that's the case, I gotta tell ya, Sunland/Tujunga is a wonderful place full of delightful human beings.
There were nothing but delightful human beings last night at our weekly quiz. Hodge Podge led all scorers with 69, followed by Shaina Maidelas with 62 and The Slinking Sausages (who neither slink, nor look like sausages) with 60. It was, in short, another wonderful night at the BDB.

We sure had us some good fun this week at The Back Door Bakery Cafe in Sunland/Tujunga. It's always a good sign when the lead changes hands several times, as it did last night. That is a clear indication of competitive fervor, and frankly there was fervor residue all over the place when the dust settled and Hodge Podge at the top of the leaderboard.
La Dee Dah impressed us with their second place finish, and the Singing Sausages stood out in the drinking round with their solid knowledge of '90s music!
All in all, this is about the best place I can think of to spend a Wednesday evening. But don't take my word for it - come see for yourself! We'll be back next week! Join us.
