I mean, come on! Is there anyone who doesn't love a good zombie joke? The clown tastes funny! Oh man...I just crack myself up sometimes!
As the current season of League play approaches its crescendo, it is time for the top teams to begin sharpening their wits and honing their focus to take on the best-of-the-best in the Tournament of Champions.
Clearly that's what Hodge Podge is doing, preparing themselves for the ultimate trivia challenge by maintaining their edge this week with another first place finish at the Back Door Bakery Cafe in Sunland Tujunga.
The Podgers are currently ranked #1 in our tournament rankings - along with 23 other accomplished teams - but 40 0n 6 and Shaina Maidelas didn't make it easy for 'em, racking up good scores to keep the heat on and finish in the top three, on an otherwise eerie Halloween Eve.

Q: What's the difference between a hippo and a zippo?
A: One is really heavy and the other is a little lighter.
As documented in the team names listed here, the Gimp celebrated his birthday this by rallying his team to a third-place win this week at the Back Door Bakery Cafe in Sunland/Tujunga. That's the Gimp right there is photo #7, and pictured with his teammates in photo #8. That's a good-lookin' group of people right there!
We asked the Gimp how he injured his leg (he was wearing a leg brace and walked with a gimp/limp, and he recounted how the CIA had sent him on a secret trip to Ukraine to recover classified documents connected to the Trump impeachment. While there, he was attacked by Russian agents attempting to steal the documents! He sustained his injury fighting off the Russians!
Now, it's important to note that his teammates said he hurt his leg when he stepped off a curb, landed awkwardly, twisted his ankle and fell down. One of those two stories is true. But it's his birthday, so we're gonna go with the Russians!

A piece of penne tried to convince a group of rigatoni that he was one of them. But the rigatoni saw right through his disguise.
Yup! That's right! They knew he was an impasta!
Of all the many venues where this quizmaster has hosted quiz shows over the years, I gotta say that The Back Door Bakery Cafe is one of my all-time favorites. You might think it's the awesomely delicious croissants and mouth-watering pasta - and you wouldn't be far wrong!
But to tell ya the truth, it's the people. You won't find a warmer and friendlier group of people anywhere than you will at the BDB. And yes, the weekly quiz show does occasionally get off track due to the lack of discipline and complete disrespect the regulars show for the quizmaster! (See photo #2 above.)
But the laughter! Some nights, it's as much of a free-form shouting match as it is a test of knowledge and pop culture. But that's why we love it at the BDB. It's the people! And ain't that really what it's all about?
