When Archimedes said: “Celebrity ain’t all it’s crapped up to be,” a student corrected him by saying: “Sir? It’s cracked up to be. Not crapped.” Then ol’ Archy looked down at the ground, pursed his lips and said: “I’m going to lunch.” We’ve all been there. Whether from using a word wrong or scoring last at trivia, we’ve all stepped in it from time to time. Let’s talk!

The drinking round was basic: Whoever can do the best impression of this guy named Arnold Schwarzenegger wins free drinks for their team. The winner not only did Arnold’s voice, but also the voice of the impressionist who has to do the impression. Meta much? I’ll say! It was a veritable Matryoshka doll of references that had to win. And win it did!

In third place were two people named Allan Salamander. What’re the odds that two different people both named Allan Salamander would both be on the same trivia team? Nuts! In second place was the team called Fertile Crescent Rolls. They’ve won before and may win again! And taking the lead again was another multi-time winner Check For Fruits with a score of 52 American points! Come back next week for more trivia fun at Glendale Tap!

When Aeschylus invented the pool cue, he didn't say: "Though wagering is bad, let this tool act as a means of fun and frolic in back alley billiard halls across the world." He said: "Man, in the wrong hands, this could easily be a weapon." That tension of "What should I do?" was very much in play at Glendale Tap for King Trivia last night.  Let's talk.

In honor of Mother's Day last Sunday, the Drinking Round saw one person from each team on the mic doing their best impressions of their moms. We heard moms from the Phillippines, moms from Boston and moms from the grave. And what did we learn? All moms are our moms. Eaters Don't Eat Eaters, with a perfect Boston dialect, took the prize in that category. His mom sounded like my mom, and my mom wasn't from Boston. What the hell is that?

In third place, with a score of 72, was Fertile Crescent Rolls. They firmly stood by the bar for their picture, even though they prefer to be sketched rather than photographed. In second place, with a score of 74 points, was Check For Fruits. This was the team with the player who had a deceased mom, so not placing at all would've been horrific. And grabbing the night by the stones and rattling it for all it was worth was Beers For Queers with 80 solid points! They killed a pizza in five minutes and dominated trivia. Frightening!
