About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

This week, we had some newbies and some oldies join in the trivia fun.

No Use For a Name started out strong in Round 1, but lost their footing in the following few rounds, even turned in a wrong answer to the Guess Who? question (so unlike them)! By the time we got to Round 5, when they stepped up their game to Find the Connection, they were already too far behind, and Round 6 was tough for everyone this week. Who would think they would need to know who the President was at the time these 10 states joined the union? King Trivia, that's who.

Welcome back, Really Nice But Really Dumb, you guys are always a delight! Unfortunately this week was not your week, started and ended the game in the middle of the pack, but you learned a little about yourselves along the way. Time to diversify your age group so you can get those points from questions about back in the day!

Too Cool for Grad School was the definite under dog. At the beginning of the night, they only had a few team members, but as their team grew, so did their score and ranking. Funny how more brains lead to more knowledge. Great job, going from last place in Round 1, all the way into the top 3 by the end of the night!

With a name like Last But Not Least, you'd think these guys wouldn't know trivia, but boy would that be wrong. This team cut through the fray with ease, going double-or-nothing on the Connection Round, jumping them into 2nd place, and maintaining that through the end of the game!

However, once Bluitosis (Blue's Bad Breath) got going, there was no stopping them, and they got going right away! This team strategically used that double-or-nothing option three times throughout the night, and it showed, landing them in 1st place.

I will say, Round 7 was just a high-scoring wash - every single team got all 10 Greek Letters correct AND doubled down on their answers, scoring each team 20 points!! Usually the final round is a make-it or break-it round, but this week, all the teams held their own.

Thank you all for coming out for trivia! See you next time 🙂

What a fun night! We had a big crowd in the house, and a special guest on the mic for round 3, lots of energy, and a close game all the way to the end.

Round 1 started out with (newly named and sing-song voice requested) Lowered Expectay-ay-tions bursting out of the starting line with 14 points!

In Round 2, No Use For a Name made their name known, stepping out of the fray with 16 points, while Love Pit fell short of the Double-Down they strove for.

Round 3 was our special guest, test-host, Amelia. It was a tough round, but only one team knew Godzilla's arch enemy was King Ghidora, but they have No Use For a Name, so who's to say?

In Round 4, J. Lo showed they're more than just looks, by getting the Guess Who? answer after just 2 clues! Meanwhile, there were a few teams who guessed incorrectly, and another team still who decided it's best to sit it out for a zero than risk a wrong answer.

It wasn't until Round 5 that we saw what The Weather's Getting Better was made of. Unfortunately, they fell short of a perfect score by 1, so close!

In Round 6, we got to see which of the teams still watch music videos, matching the videos with the actor/cameo who appeared in them. Not an easy task.

The final round was where we really got to see the heat! The final question being, What are the 10 Great Plains states? Kudos out to The Weather's Getting Better, 6 Senses, and Whiskey Business for taking the leap and going Double-or-Nothing in this final dash to the finish. Unfortunately, none of these teams got all 10 states, so wound up at the bottom of the pack. But it was down to Hyperion Tempo and J. Lo who ended up in a tie for 3rd place, and we went into the tie-breaking question!

For the tie-breaker, it's just one "simple" question, and the team with the closest guess to the correct answer wins it. This week, it was Hyperion Tempo, stealing that 3rd place prize!!

The evening ended with our top 3 teams as: Lowered Expectay-ay-tions in 1st, No Use For a Name in 2nd, and Hyperion Tempo in 3rd*

Thank you all for coming out for a fun night of trivia! See you all next week 🙂
