About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

Five teams entered... and five teams left Bar Charlie safe and sound because though the competition can be spirited, it's still pretty safe and not usually prone to physical harm.

Speaking of spirited competition, 3 teams, Riff Raff, Risk It For The Biscuit, and Quiz On Your Face kept it neck and neck and neck throughout most of the night in spite of Round Two Double or Nothings from the first two teams. Cali 4 Lyfe had slow start, but started gaining steam by Round 3. But it was the Double or Nothings hit by Bust Down Thotiona in Rounds 5 and 7 that propelled them into a 1st Place Prize with 66 points. Which left Riff Raff, Quiz On Your Face, and Risk It For The Biscuit to duke it out a 3-way tie for 2nd and 3rd Places with 62 points a piece. However, Risk It For The Biscuit came closer to the number of days Shannon Lucid spent on the space station Mir than Quiz On Your Face, coming within 54 days of the correct answer (188), but Riff Raff guessed within 53 Days, swiping 2nd Place and leaving the Biscuits with 3rd. And a very honorable 4th Place for Quiz On Your Face.

All and all, not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night!

It's amazing what partly cloudy skies and a 15 degree drop in temperature can do for attendance! We only had 5 teams again, but about 3 times the people for a fun, well attended night of trivia at Bar Charlie!

There were plenty of ups with some well place Double or Nothings and a down or two with a particularly rough Round 7. (HINT: if ever asked to name the 10 most attended theme parks in the world just say "Disney," name a city, and add in three other words at random and you'll probably do okay).

Risky Biscuit ended the night with 49 points, securing Third Place. Mindhumpers came in strong with 56 points for a Second Place prize, but it was King Trivia stalwarts, Team 5-1-0 hitting a Round 6 Double or Nothing that earned them 65 points and 1st Place!

Hope to see you next Tuesday!

It was the first sunny and warm day of the year here in Seattle! Birds were singing, butterflies were flapping, and "Spring" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons was somehow playing wherever one went. It was downright gorgeous out!

But that didn't stop everyone from coming out for some trivia! Sure, the five teams we did have mostly topped out at two, but they were mighty!

And competitive, mostly keeping within a few points of one another. But it was an 8 point answer on the Guess Who round tha propelled one-man powerhouse Riff Raff into the First Place spot and he never looked back!

But it was Mind Humpers and Knowledge Spreader that had to duke it out for 2nd Place with the tie-breaking question with Mind Humpers coming closest and handing Knowledge Spreader 3rd Place.

It may have been a little more... intimate than most weeks, but that just means more teams walked away with prizes than didn't! (Still...you should come out next Tuesday!)
