Quite an eventful night at Bar Charlie for this round of trivia! We had eight teams, one of whom is currently in the running for the Tournament of Champions in LA!!
I Wish This Mic... and Team 5-1-0 both started out strong out of the gate, gathering 14 points each in the first round - that's all correct answers, going double-or-nothing, and getting the two bonus points for having a team number registered on KingTrivia.com, and NAS*D not far behind with 12 points (just missing that team number)!!
In Round 2, newcomers Beciderself cashed in on the double-or-nothing for the picture round, as did Festivus For The Rest Of Us and Team 5-1-0. There must be something about Mary...
You'd think Seattlites would know a thing or two about Stormy Weather in Round 3. And most of them did pretty well. But I'm proud of you all for at least all getting Seattle Storm correct as our WNBA team!
Guess Who was a good one this week, and I even overheard one member of Festivus For The Rest Of Us saying Bill Murray after the first clue (worth 10 points), but unfortunately for them, they didn't believe her until we got down to the 6 point clue.
In Round 5, only two teams were able to find the correct connection between The Princess Bride, Wrap It Up, Shirt, Tenting, Slip 'N Slide, Halter, Weddings, Sweater, and Sheath as types of Dresses. I guess it helps if you get all the first 9 answers correct first, haha.
The Matching Round caused some heated discussion this week about the difference between a spokesperson and someone who's merely been in an ad for a product. Luckily I have the last word on such things, and after reviewing the play on the field, I reversed my first ruling, allowing Team 5-1-0 the point (amongst grumbling from some other teams).
And the Final Round caused LOTS of cheering when the question was announced - these people know their seltzers!
In the end, it was Team 5-1-0 in 1st place, Festivus For The Rest Of Us in 2nd, and I Flushed My Toilet 15 Times in 3rd this week.
Great job to everyone for having the most fun bar trivia in all of Seattle! I wouldn't be here without you guys. And big thank you to those of you who didn't come for trivia, but stayed to play anyway! Hope to see you back next week 🙂
People are catching on to the Trivia Trends over at Bar Charlie! Seven of our eight teams are now registered with team numbers on KingTrivia.com, scoring those automatic bonus 2 points for the night.
Team 5-1-0 started out in the lead in rounds one and two, but then in round 3, No Use For A Name went double-or-nothing and jumped into the top spot. You'd think a round called Berts & Ernies would be as easy as 1-2-3, but that did not appear to be the case this week.
I thought we could have used the Gobble Gobble Turkey round last week, right before Thanksgiving, but alas, here we are, already stuffed.
Round 4 was a tough one this week as well for our Guess What? The first two teams to turn in their answers, guessed incorrectly, and the first two teams to guess correctly, didn't come in until the 6-point clue. One team decided they were better off not turning anything in, to avoid that minus 1 point penalty for a wrong answer!
In Round 5, five of our eight teams guessed the correct connection to the answers! You guys really know your Indiana Jones!
Round 6 was a highlight, with 3 teams scoring 20 points a piece, and one more that should have doubled down, but still scored 10 points, the remaining 4 teams all got 9 answers correct, but one of them went double-or-nothing, scoring nothing for the round.
The final round had three teams deciding they had nothing to lose and going double-or-nothing once again, costing them the round.
In the end, it was No Use For A Name in 1st, Risk it For the Biscuit in 2nd, and Santa's Hoes in 3rd.
Thank you all for coming out for Trivia Tuesday at Bar Charlie! It's always a fun night with you there! See you next Tuesday!!
P.S. - I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of team Raff Riff this week. I was waiting until they were all back at the table, and was going to come back around, and then totally forgot. So sorry Raff Riff! I'll get you next week!
We started the evening with three of our six teams going double-or-nothing on the first round. Quizlamic State and No Use For a Name both got the double points and Quizlamic State also got their two bonus points for being registered on KingTrivia.com, while I Was Told There'd Be Tofurkey unfortunately listed Ronald Reagan's Fraternity letters in the wrong order, causing them to gather no points on their double-or-nothing, but at least they still got their 2 points for their team number!
Love & HipHop Sea-Tac chose the wrong round to go double-or-nothing this week (they should have used it on rounds 1 and 3, but instead used it on round 2, pushing them down into the bottom couple teams).
Round 3, our Pilgrim Themed round was a pretty good one as far as correct answers, and yet Quizlamic State was the only team to double down, soaring them into the top spot.
In Round 4, our Guess Where round, we had a few overzealous teams turn in their answers after the first and second clues, before there was really enough information to decipher where we were looking for. Some of the incorrect answers were pretty far off (from each other and the correct answer) - Hudson Bay Company from O.G., Manhattan from I Was Told There'd Be Tofurkey, and The Mall from Love & Hip Hop Sea-Tac. The place we were looking for was Harvard University, for which the three teams that got it, all guessed after the 6 point clue.
The Fifth Round, this week's Find The Connection round, had a few teams scratching their heads for the connection. But No Use For a Name and Quizlamic State both connected the dots on different types of Sauces - nice work 🙂
In Round 6, the teams needed to match the Governors to their states, and EVERY TEAM checked that Double-or-Nothing box! Unfortunately, The Winning Team didn't quite live up to their name...
The Final Round was a close one. We were looking for the 9 UN Member States whose names begin with the letter "P". While 2 teams went for the final double-or-nothing, only Love & HipHop Sea-Tac actually got all 9 answers correct - and they didn't double down (womp-womp).
BUT, this brought us to a TIE between Quizlamic State and No Use For a Name! So we set out for the tie-breaker, how many double stitches are on an MLB regulation ball? Neither team was close, but you just had to be closer than the other team. And so, the tie breaker went to the team who picked lucky number 69 - NO USE FOR A NAME!!!
Great game to everyone! Thank you for coming out on your Tuesday to play Trivia with us at Bar Charlie! It was a ton of fun, hope to see you again next week 🙂
