About Hop Merchants Bottle Shop & Taproom

Hop Merchants Bottle Shop & Taproom is a craft beer bottle shop and tasting room. We offer 16 rotating taps of Los Angeles-area beer as well as a wide variety of bottles and cans from your favorite independent breweries, which you can purchase to go or to enjoy in-house (with $1.50 corkage).  We also have an open food policy, meaning outside food is welcome and delivery is even encouraged. It's all good!

Located in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, California, our mission is to channel our passion for great beer, community, and create a fun, chill atmosphere for people to hang, drink, shop and debate the deeper mysteries of life...such as who would win in a fistfight between Batman and Captain America? What's the difference between partly cloudy and partly sunny?  If the Zombie Apocalypse started today, what would be your weapon of choice?  Why are there no such thing as B batteries?  If humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

Wednesday night trivia at Hop Merchants this week was full of shakeups! Our usual Quiz Master Alex took the night off and swapped roles with regular player and substitute QM August, who very bravely filled Alex's very silly shoes. (The heckling and joking that ensued was well earned on both sides, including Alex's giving his team the longest team name this QM has yet had to read.) 

The competition then got hot as each round saw a changeup in the scoreboard for first place, with many questions throwing a wrench in teams' gears (my heart goes out to all the teams who recognized Rod Blagojevich but accidentally called him Rob), and while some teams got lucky, others' charm fell short. 

Our final round of Liam Neeson's top 10 box office films caused both the biggest rumble and the biggest laughs yet, as it ended with a tie for first place between Hey Mommy! and Sylvester McMonkey McBean’s Miraculous Trivia Dream Team, while also giving Vallez BEER Gas the opportunity to win the "Funniest Answers" award with such gems as "Taken 2 Fast 2 Furious", "Taken 3: We Were Taken A Break", "Taken Aback", and "Returned".  

The tiebreaker round had Hey Mommy! come out on top with the closest answer, bringin an end to a truly wild trivia night ride.
