Congrats are in order, Quizlamic State has made it back to the top this week, and Hail Hydra not only took third place but they also won the first raffle of the evening!

Now if you'll excuse me, my Australian Bearded Dragon needs to be taken out for a quick flight around the block.

The night was hot and so were the beans. 25 teams stayed til the end tonight braving the West Hollywood heat for the chance to win hundreds of dollars in prizes and bragging rights.

The game started off savagely with 18 groups successfully doubling down. Only two of them would repeat the feat in round two, and round three saw a slew of zeros. It could make even the most hardened quizmaster shed a tear.

Not enough kids were angsty in the 90s to get Claire Danes right off the bat, "Definitely cheating" and "Mr. Holland's O-Face" had reviewed their own so-called lives and succeeded in getting 10 points; over half the teams declined to answer at all, not wanting to risk a negative point with an incorrect answer.

After an epic Rochambeau tournament, first place got a pitcher of beer, second-place got an appetizer of their chocie, and third place got a wonderful soccer scarf provided by Peroni Pilsner thanks to our local rep Vince! In round five, while some teams dove deeper into their beers, a few unlikely heroes grasped for glory and begin doubling down with the fury so far not seen in these parts since the great Quizassacre of 1879. Round 4 ended up with 6 successful double downs, but the zeroes returned in round six.

Round seven saw a few forlorn hopes, but only one was able to overcome the clear front-runners of the game: With three successful double downs in a row, "Harley and Ivy" launched from obscurity to the top of the podium securing a $75 giftcard and bragging rights... At least until next week.
