While there were no sightings of dogs making feline friends tonight, we did see an unholy alliance of three of the longest-attending teams around. Well at least some of their members, anyway.
Conjugal Visitors-Aggressive Foreplay-General Washingtons
The name of any one of those teams is enough to strike fear in even the most season Tam player. Indeed, this triumvirate did triumph in the Drinking Round, however chasing doubles proved to be their demise.
Which is not at all to diminish the accomplishment of the rising force that is Too Soon. Seeing as they've now felt the warm light of golden victory, perhaps it's time we call them Now's Cool?
Perhaps not. It would be folly to think I know the answers to all of life's questions. But I can at least spread good cheer to you by way of reminding one and all of the fact that there shall be one more week of trivia of Tam O'Shanter in 2017, that match to take place on November 28th following a Thanksgiving Week recess.

Following a spooky holiday, teams played a spooky drinking round wherein they attempted to name as many films featuring The Merchant of Menace, Vincent Price. The General Washingtons were victorious in this task, more than doubling the closest competition.
Fun fact: Michael Caine’s real name is Maurice Micklewhite. Fun!
(My real name is Michael Miller.)

In 1991, Eddie Murray threw me a baseball that he had just been throwing around before the game. This is one of at least three mildly interesting Dodgers stories I have.
A far more interesting story though, has to do with the Drinking Round this week, wherein teams were tasked with proving the oft-bandied assertion that the American electorate is for some reason more knowledgeable about government now than ever in recent memory. The metric for such a sounding: number of current US Senators named.
And indeed, all teams impressed with their knowledge, but none more than The Tragically Hip Replacements, whose 27 statesmen and women won them the right to drink a round of refreshments without money exchanging hands. Not only that, but I noticed one of their number, perhaps inspired to create by Bacchus' charge, as he was placing the finishing touches on a sketch that I noticed bore more than a passing resemblance to your humble Quizmaster. Perhaps it isn't meant to be a flattering representation, but I care not because...it's me! <wipes away tear>
