About Hops & Scotch

Whisk(e)y originates from Gaelic for “water of life”. According to author David Broom, the Scots and Irish Gaelic translation of this is uisge beatha. This referred to a proto-whisk(e)y redistilled with spices and herbs and the straight version became known as 'usky'."

Now is it Whiskey or Whisky? In short, the spelling "whiskey" is common in the United States and Ireland. The rest of the world, including Japan, Scotland and Canada, uses "whisky."

Bourbon, Rye, Single Malts, Blends - they're all whisk(e)y. There is no one right way to drink all whisk(e)ys. Whether you drink it neat or on the rocks, whisk(e)y is one of America's most beloved spirits.  Enjoying this beverage is a personal journey that could easily change from week to week, day to day, drink to drink.

You'll find that many whisk(e)ys are greatly enhanced by ice, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least try the whiskey neat. Have you tried your Scotch with a few drops of mineral water?  A splash of water can be a great thing as it releases the hydrophobic elements in the glass, allowing you to detect more aromatics on the nose, and by lowering the alcohol content, it can allow you to taste more flavors on your palate.

At Hops & Scotch we have over 450 types of whisk(e)ys ranging from American Bourbon to Japanese Whisk(e)y.  Whether you like your rye neat or your Scotch with a drop of mineral water, or your bourbon with our ice spheres molded at the bar, Hops & Scotch is sure to have something to please your palate!

Tonight’s King Trivia had some wild twists, but Mipha and the Cat Ladies once again proved their dominance, finishing at the top with an impressive 65 points. 🏆

 

The Bumble Bees buzzed their way into second place with 40 points, showing they are solid contenders in every game. CCSux fought their way to third with 31 points, while the Hooligans stirred up some chaos and landed in fourth with 25 points.

 

Two Old Gezzards showed some grit, finishing with 17 points, and Pops made a strong push, wrapping up the night with 14 points. Hooha’s and Cooksucks had a tough night, but they’ll surely regroup for the next battle, finishing with 3 and 0 points respectively.

 

Another thrilling night full of brainpower and teamwork—can’t wait to see what happens next time! 🧠🎉

Tonight's King Trivia was another action-packed event with plenty of highs and lows! Mipha and the Cat Ladies clawed their way to an impressive first-place finish with 64 points, showing once again that they are a team to be reckoned with. 🏆

 

Margarita Mommies were no slouches either, mixing up some strong answers and landing in second with 50 points, while the Bumble Bees — formerly known as the Lonely Hearts — proved they’re not so lonely anymore, buzzing into third place with 41 points. 🐝

 

Misplaced Mutations and Formerly Oakland Athletics rounded out the middle of the pack with solid performances at 34 and 31 points respectively. Acebo Assassins followed with 21 points, quietly taking shots at the leaderboard.

 

At the lower end, Pops and Diablo Crew had a rough night, but they're sure to regroup for next time, finishing with 8 and 3 points respectively. 

 

A night full of stings, sips, and fierce competition — can't wait to see what happens next week! 🎉

Tonight’s King Trivia was an absolute nail-biter with teams battling back and forth from start to finish! The first round kicked off with three three-way ties, setting the stage for a fierce competition. It looked like Mipha and the Cat Ladies might get stuck in the middle, but they sharpened their claws and pounced their way to the top spot. 🦁

 

ShimmyFoo chased hard, finishing strong in second, while Octopuses swam their way to a solid third. 🐙 Lonely Hearts and Kid’s Table stayed in the hunt with matching scores, showing heart and resilience. Finally!, Ragin’ Cajuns, Margarita Mommies, and Pink JJ Club fought valiantly, with Solo Dolo Cup and Pops rounding out the night.
