Welcome to the first ever recap for Opening night of King Trivia at Strand Brewing Co. in Torrance. Welcome to the KT family! IMHO, it was a rousing success and a great time we had. Had a great group of teams and the venue is a perfect wide-open setup for the teams and the Quizmaster. Plenty of space to spread out and be comfortable.

The game got off to a slow start with some tough questions in Round 1 and no team got more than 4 correct. Things picked up in Round 2 and remained competitive right to the end. Strand Brewing was kind enough to donate a 6 pack of brew for the beer round (Round 4) and Great Minds Drink Alike handed in their correct answer to "Guess Who" about 1.5 seconds before Dangerous Minds, it was amazingly close. All the teams were very competitive with some key moments. Our Combined IQ Is.. doubled 3 times and nailed 2 out of 3. Great Minds Drink Alikehad a solid, conservative performance and only doubled once and nailed it which turned out to be the right call. That was all the Doubling for the evening. In the end, Our Combined IQ IS, 2 correct doubles and a strong final round, pushed them into first place. Great Minds also had a strong final round and took a strong second. Mr. Poopybutthole was in the race throughout but their lack of any doubles got them 3rdplace.

My favorite incorrect answer of the evening was in the Themed round with the theme being Gnomes or Toads. The question was Glen Phillips was the lead singer for what band? The answer was" Toad The Wet Sprocket" and Great Minds came up with The Rolling Gnomes, very funny.
