QUIZ RECAP
We had 143 players on 28 teams join us for a great night of trivia, and we were treated to extra special prizes thanks to a sponsorship by North Coast Brewery! Round 1 led to some discussions on cardigans vs sweaters, and two teams took an early lead: Bricked Up On A Thursday and Risky Quizness. In Round 2, we visited the Reading Rainbow, and Bricked Up claimed 1st while Da Breakfast Club pulled ahead of the rest of the pack to take 3rd. In Round 3, we discussed some wonderful female achievements... and Dr Pimple Popper. The team in the lead at the end of Round 3 (Bricked Up) got a special prize from our sponsors! In Round 4, we got some "c7osure" on Lil Nas X, and gave a shout-out to the 3 teams that recognized him at the 10 point level: Trash Kweens, Tater Tots, and Multiple Scoregasms. It was enough to bring Trash Kweens up to tie with Da Breakfast Club in 3rd. In Round 5, 4 teams found the connection, and the rest were green with envy. Shout out to those 4 teams: Fully Torqued, Risky Quizness, The No Nothings, and The Wood Stalkers. Bricked Up continued to hold 1st, Risky Quizness still had 2nd, and Trash Kweens and Da Breakfast Club stayed tied for 3rd, with only a few points between each place, and 4th, 5th, and 6th all very close behind. It's still anybody's game! Then we helped Multiple Scoregasms embarrass their pal Willy with a rousing Happy Birthday... and for those of us still too coordinated on the singing, good thing North Coast pitchers were on sale for $9! In Round 6, we swooned over Idris Elba's roles. Da Breakfast Club moved to 2nd place and Tater Tots quietly nabbed 3rd... an amazing comeback after Double-or-Nothing tragedies in Round 1 AND 2! And then in Round 7, we ended things on a sweet note, and wished for some Cinnabread a la mode. Our podium held their positions through the last round, with Little Caesar's just one point behind - the pizza war almost hit the podium!! We voted on Best Team Name between 3 fine choices: Cock Dirty To Me, Fruity Bitches, and Mumford and Dads, with the latter taking home the prize. It was a lively night from start to finish, and the best Woodstocks trivia crowd to be found! Come at me, other Woodstocks. A little rain couldn't keep us away - 27 teams and 146 players showed up for trivia and some hot delicious pizza 🍕 and tastyyyy beer 🍻. In Round 1, we talked about framboise liqueur and Nintendo rice... I think I'll stick with my Woodstocks meal! When we introduced teams and went over scores, the great Santa Cruz Pizza War was alive and well: team Pizza Hut egged us on and the crowd booed their displeasure, while team We H8 Pizza My Heart was met with cheers and applause. In Round 2, most of us learned what a Talkboy was. 3 teams took an early lead with 2 successful Double-or-Nothings: Tater Tots, I Thought This Was Speed Dating, and We H8 Pizza My Heart (cheered on by many). In Round 3, we talked about some badass women, and 3 teams knew their history and used a successful Double-or-Nothing to take control of the podium: Tater Tots at 40, Will Teach 4 Pizza at 33, and Bricked Up on a Thursday at 30. In Round 4, we honored one of those badass women, Maya Angelou, and we gave a shout-out to the 4 teams that recognized her at the 10 point level: French Fries, California Strangers, Best For Your Stick, and squeaking in at the last second: Bricked Up on a Thursday. We also paused to sing Happy Birthday to Juan of It's SomeJuan's Birthday. Thanks for sharing your day with us! Then in Round 5, 8 teams found the sweet connection. Of them, 4 teams got all 10 right, but only 1 of those teams hit Double-or-Nothing... And so, Will Teach 4 Pizza took control of the leaderboard with 61 points. No one was more surprised than them! Tater Tots held 2nd at 57 points, and Bricked Up held 3rd at 48, with several other teams hovering just below them on the scoreboard, including I Thought This Was Speed Dating at 44 and GirthQuake at 40. It was a tight race! In Round 6, healthy eating choices mattered! Some teams used their melons and did pretty grape... Will Teach 4 Pizza held 1st at 67, with Tater Tots just 1 point behind them in 2nd, and in a surprising twist of irony, *French Fries* used *fruit* to propel themselves onto the leaderboard and take 3rd at 57 points, just one above Bricked Up! And then it all came down to... 'z' globe. We showed that we know zee countries! Teams that played this round all did very well and got 9 or 10 right! A few missed on the Double-or-Nothing, but 9 teams got the 20 points to end on a high! Bricked Up made it back to 3rd place, Tater Tots held 2nd, and in a stunning victory by just *1 point*, Will Teach 4 Pizza (a team that's been coming weekly since we returned from the pandemic) took home their first First Place win! Even their rivals came by to congratulate them - a true testimont to the awesomeness that is Woodstocks Santa Cruz trivia teams! Meanwhile, we had a lot of great options for Best Team Name! We voted on 3 that played through Round 7: Kanye Westerners, I Thought This Was Speed Dating, and GirthQuake, and GirthQuake took home the win. It was a fantastic evening, and I can't wait to see what next week brings. ALSO: If you read this recap, come mention it to me next week before Round 5.
