We had a blast this past Tuesday at Longship as 9 teams competed for the last prize of July. The game started strong as Penguins, Moops, and Norsemen had two successful double or nothing rounds, but this didn't deter the other teams who also had impressive rounds, like Mis-Placedments in our musical theatre round and our beer round! At the end of the night we had the Penguins in the lead after a successful double or nothing on a 10 question round, and the Moops and the Norsemen in a tie behind them. Even though the tiebreaker was between the Moops and the Norsemen, Team Norway decided to submit a guess and ended up being the closest to the correct answer - they got a solid high five from me! Congratulations to all the teams!

It was a 14 team trivia Battle Royale at Longship Brewery, reminiscent of legendary Viking battles from the days of yore. Teams made daring assaults with heroic guesses, sallied forth with tactical double or nothing gambles, and flanked with some presidential knowledge.
When the dust settled and the funeral pyres were lit, we saw the Indifferent Penguins take home the victory after some valiant late-round answers.
We hope to see everyone back next week at Longship Brewery!

In the wee hours before Comic-Con, ten teams came to Longship Brewery for the ultimate showdown of trivia knowledge. It was an extremely tight race with less than a nine points separating the top five teams. There were twists, there were turns, there was trivia.
Factoring into the close race was that half of the teams successfully hit the double or nothing in round two. ROUND TWO and five teams were off and running. That has to be some sort of a record.
A few things of particular note: During round six when the teams had to correctly identify the voice actors for the main characters in the Lion King remake, there were a few wonderful surprises that I kind of wish was the actual cast. Such as:
Sarabi being played by John Oliver
Mufasa being played by Donald Glover
Scar being played by Billie Eichner
You can't tell me that some of those shifts wouldn't be interesting to hear. Speaking of hearing we had two bands come up a lot tonight. The first was the little known, "Sun Drop." Apparently, they took the underground punk rock scene by storm. I can't wait to hear their next album.
Likewise, for the Beer round, we asked the teams to send forth a single champion, who needed to answer the question by themselves. We asked - "If you were to listen to all 14 of the core Beatles studio albums in a single sitting, how long would that take?"
Amazingly, the youngest player of the Blue Light Specials was only off by 7 minutes and 40 seconds!!!!!!
When asked how he was able to be so accurate, he replied, "I saw a YouTube video that was called, 'Every Beatles Song,' and I remembered the length." Finally.....YouTube has educational value.
We hope you all enjoy Comic-Con if you're going OR are not inconvenienced by it if you're not. We also really hope to see you all back at Longship Brewery for more questions, next week!
