December is upon us, and although it'll be unlikely that we'll see snow this year, it certainly felt cold enough tonight to maybe have the white stuff make an appearance.
We had a new team make an appearance tonight: The Supers. They came to take on some of the usuals, and they brought the fury. Cyber Chemists, The Moops, and 3 Degrees of Separation, and Hawaiian Time all exchanged blows and had various leads throughout the evening.
But when the dust settled, the miles had been driven, and the double or nothing's have been wagered, it was The Supers who won the day. The Moops came in second, and 3 Degrees came in third.
The Moops did win the beer round, with their lovely letter to Santa Viking Claus, proving that they are the the "good" viking clan:
"Dearest Viking Santa,
We've binged watched all episodes of "Viking Quest" (Entourage) and Vikings of FX.
We've sailed through many tasting rooms only to come home to "Longship!"
We long to go swimmin' with bow legged women, n' swim between their legs.
We're thirsty - Sincerely, 'Your team name on your scrap paper."
(We told each team to write their team name on their scrap paper...those clever birds.)
We hope to see you all out at Longship next week, where the Food drive is still going on until 12/7 and the toy drive is going on until 12/24.
We had a great turn out tonight at Longship Brewery. We even had a surprise guest visit from our old friends Shake N' Bake, who started off the night with an early first place lead. They were embattled fiercely with the Indifferent Penguins, Cyber Chemists, The Moops, Pickle Rick, and the Drinking Illini.
Tonight had a little bit of everything, from cake by the ocean, frog mating positions, and learning that the original three Supremes were nacho, taco, and burrito.
Although the Indifferent Penguins claimed the victory, Pickle Rick! took second, and the Cyber Chemists broke a seventh round tie with the Moops to take third, (sometimes one is better than more) the visiting Shake N' Bake did claim the beer round victory, which I think they were very happy with.
As a reminder, there is a food drive going on at the brewery until 12/8 (canned foods only) and a Toys for Tots drive going on until 12/24 (unwrapped gifts only) so please feel free to help out this holiday season. We hope to see you all next Tuesday!
It's one of the most magical nights of the year - Thanksgiving Eve Eve. It isn't quite Turkey day, and its the last day of "work" a lot of us have. I mean, who really puts in a full effort on the day before Thanksgiving?
With all that being said, we had a fun night at Longship Brewery. It was a really close match where in first four rounds there were at least three teams with the same scores. The Indifferent Penguins took an early lead, but it wasn't until the fourth round when the Cyber Chemists named Maya Rudolph for six points (all other teams needed to wait until the two point clue, or took a zero,) separated themselves from the rest of the pack.
They seemed like they were well on their way to second place until newcomers, Pardon That Turkey, hit a successful double or nothing in round five, for a major 20 point leap, and maintain their hold on second place for the rest of the game.
We had fun in our beer round, where we played another round of: Recipe Riddle. In this game we pick a recipe from a well known chef, and ask the teams to name all the ingredients needed to prepare the dish. This week's recipe: Martha Stewart's Vegetarian Mushroom Gravy.
Pardon That Turkey correctly named five of the nine ingredients. But we do have to give a shout out to Indifferent Penguins who included the following ingredients in their mushroom gravy: Cucumbers and kumquats. We poked a little fun, but then did research and discovered that there actually is a recipe out there for cucumber gravy. Make it at your own risk.
Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!
