Tonight was so Fetch, Gretchen. We totally made Fetch a thing tonight while hosting King Trivia at Longship Brewery, in honor of "Mean Girls." We had trivia, we had beer, we had fun, we had dogs, we had 80's music, we had a three year wedding anniversary celebration! That's right folks; we had it all!
This week, the Indifferent Penguins pulled off the rare "double win." This is when a team wins both first place, and wins the drink bonus round. Team Pickle Rick did it once before, so it not unheard of, but this time around it was not Indifferent for the Penguins, because it was the first time in the history of King Trivia at Longship Brewery that the Penguins won the drink round. So we're putting our flippers together to congratulate them.
The veteran Drinking Illini and relatively new Laser Sounds, had a tough battle for second and third place. Laser Sounds had a slow start in round one, but came right back firing in round two with a successful double or nothing. The teams were only separated by a single point when the final round started.
It would be the Laser Sounds who were able to name two more musical groups than the Illini to notch the second place spot. A well found game indeed.
We hope to see you all next week!
We had a lot of fun tonight at Longship Brewery, where we welcomed back some veteran teams, some teams we haven't seen for a while, and brand new team which, spoiler alert, may have taken one of the top spots in the final standings.
The action started off fast and early with a few Double or Nothings that didn't pay off quite well. We also asked the question, "Which part of a flower, which also shares the name with a part of the female reproductive system, turns into the fruit?" Some teams guessed the Pistol, to which we jokingly asked, "Where is the pistol located on the female body?" We probably shouldn't have asked that.
Even though we should have called it the Sherry round, for our Beer round, we asked how many total episodes of television the character Dr. Frasier Crane appeared? Chuck the bartender was closest, and would have won the beer, had he been playing. A lot of people forgot that Dr. Crane appears in a single episode of the show, "Wings."
Results:
Third Place: Click B8
Second Place: Popcorn Shrimp
First Place: Indifferent Penguins
We hope to see you all out at Longship Brewery next week!
Arrrrr - Even though it usually be Vikings we be weary of in these waters, tonight in honor of, "Talk Like a Pirate Day," we called to the secret Pirate Cove, the most daring crews and legendary of ships to battle for the bounty of the Seven Seas.
The fighting be fierce, with some daring captains hoisting the colors of success with the fabled Double or Nothing, while some others be walking the plank to zero points for the round.
When it came time to be uncorking the casks and passing out the ale, we asked the Captains to present us with the name of their ships, along with the names of their crew, and which treasure they set sail to fill their hulls with. The Loremasters decided which crew sounded the most, well....interesting...aye interesting indeed. The winners be:
Cyber Chemists - sailing in: The Crusty Beaker
Their crew be:
Toasty Buns
Typhoid Merry
Drippy Dick
And their treasure: Antibiotics
In terms of answering the Loremaster's riddles, the Drinking Illini "got jiggy with" third place. The Indifferent Penguins came in second, while also cursing the Loremaster's to forever be cursed by a Duck's Ass. And Pickle Rick's knowledge was a true as the North Star, and earned them a berth in the Captain's quarters.
Will ye all be daring enough to set sail next week at Longship Brewery? When the Viking ships return to claim their waters and the questions are asked a new? We be hoping to see ye there, mateys.
Bonus question: Why didn't the parents take their kids to see the pirate movie? Because it was rated arrrrrrr.
