It was the first night of King Trivia moving to 6:30 and the return of the Beer Round! We had a lot of teams and a lot of fun.
We talked hockey, we talked acronyms, we talked scales, and all was well and good until we got to the final round. In this round there was an explosion of double or nothings (some successful; some not) that threw the final scores into chaos. When the dust settled, we had two new two teams, unseating the teams that held the top two spots throughout the rest of the night.
1st: The Brain, That's 2 Kicks
2nd: Did We Win?
3rd: Pickle Rick!!
For our Beer Round, and in honor of the recent Olympics, we asked our teams to make up an event for the Viking Olympics that they would be the gold medal favorites for. This week's winner - The Indifferent Penguins with their response: Actual Skeleton Skeleton.
We hope everyone had a blast and we would love to see everyone back next week!
Quick update before our normally scheduled game recap - To help fight traffic starting next week, trivia at Longship Brewery will start at 6:30 and run to about 8:30. Hope that helps.
Tonight's game was very interesting in that the score remained extremely tight throughout most of the game. It wasn't until round five where a few teams pulled ahead. The game was so close that five of the teams finished within eight points of one another.
New comers, Good Golly Ms. Molly joined in the second round and still posted an impressive 30 points. We felt that was something worth pointing out.
We were also excited to see so many of our four legged friends out tonight. We almost had a dog mascot for each team.
Final standings:
1st: The Indifferent Penguins
2nd: PQ Legends
3rd: Did We Win?
The Moops did tie for third, but Did We Win? edge them out in the tiebreaker. The Moops tried to bribe us with Girl Scout Cookies, but we maintained our integrity.
It was a mad scientist's lab tonight at Longship Brewery. There were formulas, beakers, sparks, and dare we say...an explosion?
It was also a bit of a sad night, as bartender Ryan spent his last night with us. He'll be moving on to bigger and better things, and we were glad to have him be a part of the King Trivia family for the last few months. He said that he can come back now on Tuesdays and play Trivia. We really hope that happens.
But on to the game: The Indifferent Penguins jumped into an early lead and seemed to be well paced to stay comfortably in the top spot for the rest of the evening. The Moops, PQ Legends, Pickle Rick!!, and The Brain, That's Two Kicks were all battling for second and third place.
Then we got to round six, where our teams were asked to identify a number of chemical compounds. Three teams successfully hit the double or nothing for 20 points, which created an explosion in the scores. A lot of positions changed and the gaps between the leader became ominously small. Learning that so many chemists and physicists worked in such a close proximity to Longship was somewhat spooky.
But when the experiment concluded, the data was analyzed, and the conclusions were posted, this is how things ended up:
1st Place: The Indifferent Penguins
2nd Place: The Brain, That's Two Kicks (an awesome reference)
3rd Place: The Moops (another awesome reference)
We hope to see you all next Tuesday!
