Have you ever heard of the "Power of One?" Well tonight at Longship Brewery we saw the in action.

As per usual the night started off with a pretty tight race. The Indifferent Penguins were back after a hiatus and hit two successful double or nothings to storm to a victory.

A new group, Princess Twilight Sparkle, also made a successful double or nothing in round five to lock themselves into second place late in the game. They also won the beer round, by knowing that the first pickles were documented in the year 2030 B.C. (They guessed 2000 B.C. and were the closest.) (It was also National Pickle day.) (PS: Where was Pickle Rick! for this one?)

And although placing in the top three on your first game is impressive, it was The MOOPS, or should I say, "The MOOP" who had the most noteworthy feat: Coming in third as a team of one!

When asked his thoughts on the victory, King Moop replied about his absent teammates, "They've been holding me back."

It was a really fun night all the way around, and we hope to see you all back next week!

It is BEER WEEK in San Diego, and Longship Brewery is celebrating in good fun with some new brews, a tasting competition, and much more. They were so in spirit, they even asked that we had a few beer themed rounds for our trivia game this week. And ask about beer, we did.

This was one of the tightest games I think we've ever seen while hosting at Longship. A brand new team, Crabcakes and Lacrosse managed to grab an early lead, while holding off veterans Chuck's the Best and 3 Degrees of Separation for the first three rounds.

Things started to change after round four when another new contender, NC to SD, named the lovely Mandy Moore with the 8 point clue, snatching the lead away. Several of the other teams in the middle of the pack made big gains this round to keep it anyone's game.

Then in our Find the Connection round, Pickle Rick!! exploded with 8 points to grab the lead, with three teams - Chuck's the Best, Crabcakes and Lacrosse, and NC to SD sitting only a single point behind!

It wasn't until round six that the night's eventual champions made their move, when Chuck's the Best made a successful double or nothing, and they never looked back. Pickle Rick!! gave them an excellent run for their money naming 9 of the 10 correct answers in final round (the only team to do so,) but alas, it was not enough.

First Place - Chuck's the Best
Second Place - Pickle Rick!!
Third Place - Crabcakes and Lacrosse

It was an amazing game. Also tonight, we learned that Pennsylvania (Quizmaster's home state) charges the most on average for a case of beer ($21). This was our beer round question, and it took a while for a team, Crabcakes and Lacrosse, to select the correct commonwealth. We, as native Pennsylvanians, are still amazed we can walk into a 7-11 for a Kit Kat and a six pack. There really was more to life, wasn't there?

Hope to see you all next week!

We had a wickedly fun time on Halloween night at Longship Booery. There were a total of 4 lead changes throughout the course of the moonlit Hallow's Eve. But before the game, the Cyber Chemists looked into their smoking cauldron and were able to see into the future. They had a premonition that tonight would provide them with a treat. That treat was getting the "Guess Who" question correct at the ten point level. That answer gave them the final lead change that they would hold onto, all the way til the final round.

In the final round, new comers A Pirate and his Booty, who were so new they joined the game in round two, managed to close the gap and force a tie-breaker. Both teams were so looking for the treat, they played a trick on one another by guessing the exact same number for the answer! A Pirate and his Booty took the Price is Right approach and guessed "one," hoping that the Chemists would go over. But alas, the premonition proved accurate, and the Mad Scientists of Longship took home first place along with a cauldron of candy. (All three placing teams got a cauldron of candy this week.)

Longship also had a costume contest this week with some fabulous prizes. Although the contest was open to the entire graveyard, two of our King Trivia players won second and third place:

Nori from Pickle Rick!! won third place for her "Wednesday Addams Apple"

Katie from The Drinking Illini won second place for her "Frida Khalo" (Pictures of both have been posted for this week.) The Illini also took third place honors this week.

We hope everyone had a spooktacular Halloween, and we hope to see you again next week!
