It was a tense night of trivia, font types, and Tom Cruise.

Right from the get-go, Indifferent Penguins took the lead with a successful Double or Nothing in round 1; a lead they held onto for the entire evening.

Those penguins even won the drinking round, proving they could name more Tom Cruise films than the other teams. But The Brewsual Suspects came in a close second on the drinking round, earning a small coffin of gummy body parts (in honor of Cruise's Interview with a Vampire).

In the end, Penguins snagged the number one spot with Chuck's the Best in second and Drinking Illini (not pronounced ill-e-knee as one might think) in third.

In the days of yore, the King of the Geats, Hrothgar built an illustrious mead hall, Hall Heorot. It was legendary. But it came with a dark side - a beast known a Grendel, drawn by the singing of those in Hall Heorot. It would attack, until a hero, Beowulf could defeat the beast once and for all.

So this week for our Beer Round, we told the teams to imagine that Longship Brewery was Hall Heorot. To imagine that our trivia fun was the same as the singing of those in the tale. And that if our singing attracted a monster, what would the SoCal version of the Grendel look like?

You can see example of some of the entries as the photos above, with the winners being The Drinking Illini. They were honored with beer by King Chuckgar and hero Ryanwulf. We made this challenge in honor of Longship Brewery releasing their Grendel brew tomorrow. (Everyone should come and give it a taste.)

We also wanted to give a shout out to Shake N' Bake who used to be regulars, but moved away. They came back to visit and it was great to see them.

QUIZ RECAP

Tonight was a story of double or nothings and basketball.

A lot of teams saw the the Juggernaut, Indifferent Penguins, were in action and wanted to take them down. Many teams tried to start fast and hard, leading to several attempts at the Double or Nothing, which didn't work out all that well for some teams.

After naming kitchen items, talking about doctors, Dollywood, and jail/prison. It looked like the top three teams have things locked up.

But then, round six came and the teams were asked to name the colleges/high schools of famous NBA players. This is when Tri-Tip Nachos made their move, hitting the double or nothing correctly and receiving a whopping 20 points, pulling them up into second place. They remained there throughout the game. The Drinking Illini snagged the third place honors to round things out.

We hope to see everyone come back out next week for more King Trivia!
