The sun is out and shining down, spreading warmth from the "long winter" that we had. Though, as an East Coaster, I might say, "You know nothing of winter." But it was nice to finally dig the shorts of the closet, and spend a beautiful evening with the fine folks and teams that make Longship Brewery so much fun.
Tonight's game was a very close one, and all teams kept close with one another for most of the game. Some teams gambled early with the double or nothing and that launched some to top honors, while it pulled some to the back of the pack. This was the second week in a row where a lot of the teams were able to identify the Guess Who round early on, racking up important points.
But when the final tallies were in, we were left with:
3rd: The Moops
2nd: Norse Code
1st: The Indifferent Penguins
The Indifferent Penguins also had, by their own admission, a rare Beer Round victory, as voted on by the Viking Council at Longship. In honor of teacher appreciate day, all teams were asked to come up with the class names for a viking themed curriculum in all of the four major subjects, plus an elective. Here is what you can expect to learn from Professor Penguin:
Math: Division of Spoils
Science: Anatomy 101: How to Properly Quarter a Body
Social Studies: How to Lose Friends and Decapitate People
Language Arts: GrammaRagnorok
Elective: Rowing & Sailing for Dummies
We hope everyone had a great time and we hope to see you out again next week!
We always thought that the phrase was: April showers bring May flowers. Not sure what April offered, but we started off the month of May with some cold rain showers. But it wasn't enough to keep eleven teams from entering the trivia dome. (That's the thunder dome...but with trivia instead of thunder...The Moops get it.)
This was a fascinating game that came in waves. The early rounds belonged to the quick starting PQ Legends, who got all questions right in round one, and then successfully hit the double of nothing in rounds two and three. Big Fact Hunt and Shortboat Winery kept pretty tight early on.
But then in the later rounds, a second wave came crashing with some big double or nothing scores in round six, such as the Indifferent Penguins, The Moops, and Did We Win?
But at the end of the day, Shortboat Winery kept just enough pace to squeak out a 70 point victory, which was only one more than Did We Win? The Moops mooped their way into third place.
Big Fact Hunt won our beer round, where we asked how long it would take to watch all 18 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be ready for Infinity War. Big Fact Hunt was the closest team without going over with 36 hours and 10 minute. The correct answer: 38 Hours 19 Minutes.
We hope to see everyone out again next Tuesday at 6:30PM.
It was nice to be back after last week's car issues. We missed everyone, but glad to get back to the trivia fun. We had a few teams return to action after absence, and it was wonderful to see them as well.
We had spirited competition, but after round one, three teams had gotten perfect scores with double or nothing honors, and it was these three teams that ended up taking the top three spots when all was said and done:
Third - We Drink and We Know Things
Second - Pickle Rick!!
First - Indifferent Penguins
We also had a team join us about half way through the game, and named themselves aptly, "The Late Cummers." They ended up with a decent amount of points as well as the beer round, which is quite impressive.
We hope to see everyone back next week.
